The survey of smells was pretty comprehensive. Not surprisingly toilets come at the top of foul-smelling places. But I understand Japanese hotels (perhaps only the more expensive ones) have technologically advanced, state-of-the-art odour-free toilets.
America has very few public toilets, if any. The public toilets in England can be uninviting, with unattractive writing and pictures all over the doors and walls; some are okay, however.
