A Dog's Beach

http://www.sandiegodogbeach.com

Our two dogs and I visit Dog Beach in Ocean Beach (San Diego), CA nearly every day. The beach is full of characters, both canine and human, and this blog is my way to share this wonderful place with anyone who loves dogs, the beach or both.

I just found out "Sandy Claws" (Santa for the pups) isn't making an appearance this year. Boo! I also just found out there is a Dog Beach Committee in the Ocean Beach Town Council. I might have to join and see what I can do to help. Must bring Sandy ...

When the sun is hidden, the pics can look a bit dull. So, sometimes it's just fun to play with effects. For editing, I use picnik, and they have some fun tools that can really give a shot a different feel.Bernard is always up for a game. He appears t...

Jen,

There are two dog-friendly hotels in OB that I know of. I highly recommend the Ocean Beach Hotel (www.obhotel.com) that is right on Newport (near the pier, bars, restaurants, etc.). I stayed there once when my water at home was off for a couple of days. They have WiFi, so I was able to work from there and take breaks with the dogs at the beach and walks.

There is another hotel that is right at Dog Beach itself. It looks like an older hotel, but it has a pool, cable, etc. And it's adjacent to Dog Beach and the parking lot. I see many people staying there with dogs. It's called Ocean Villa Inn.

I enjoyed looking at your photos! I was actually looking for a reasonable place to stay on this beach with my husband and our golden retriever. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks for any input you can give!
