A New Beginning: First There Was An Ending

http://thematrix-dreammaker.blogspot.com/

RSD:Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy. What is it? How can you get it? Is it Curable? All these questions and more I try to answer in this blog. This disease is a painful, chronic neurological condition that gets progressively worse over time. There is no cure and there is not enough research being done.

Over 1 million people are afflicted with it, yet, very few people, including the medical field are familiar with it. It is extremely hard to even get a doctor to treat me that has ever treated someone with RSD! And, I do not live in a small city!

That is why those of us who have the disease try to get the word out any way we can, to publicize the fact we need help! We need more research and We Need a Cure! According to some studies the number 1 (one) killer of people with RSD is suicide. This is partly due to the hopelessness of the situation we find ourselves in. No cure, incredible pain, that never lets up, not for 1 minute, every single day.

I live with it the best I can, but sometimes it seems too much to bear! So far I have totally lost the use of my right hand, arm and shoulder. My left hand I can use a little, maybe 20-30%. I can hardly walk and some days I cannot walk at all. There are other parts of my body that have been affected but I'm not going to make a grocery list here. My husband is my caretaker and for that I am very grateful.
