If paid articles are placed in smaller media then they would be read as if written by staff. Articles written that note specific businesses fill a greater need now that traditional media are under pressure to reduce staffing. Syndication of articles fill a need as have "new product releases" had for so many decades. Also, syndication would or should open up e-media possibilities.
I think there is always an acceptance for this level of promotion. It should be considered to be a reasonable advertising vehicle.
