Bernice Morgan at The Rooms

Please join us at The Rooms this Wednesday, November 19 at 7:30 pm for Past Tense: Readings by Michael Crummey & Bernice Morgan. Presented in conjunction with the exhibition Rebecca Belmore: March 5, 1819, please join us for an evening with two of our most celebrated novelists as they read from their own works of fiction. There is no admission fee for this event.

Background Information:
Rebecca Belmore: March 5, 1819, explores the experience of Demasduit, a young Beothuk woman captured by colonists at Red Indian Lake, and her husband who was killed trying to save her.

Reading from River Thieves and Cloud of Bone, each author adds their fictional accounts of the final days of the Beothuk in Newfoundland.

There is no admission fee for this event. Seating is limited, first-come, first-seated. This event is organized by The Rooms Provincial Art Gallery with the support of the Media Arts Commissioning Program of the Canada Council for the Arts.

REFLECTING members’ recent works (after 2007), an exhibition without theme and not juried presenting the varied range of artistic production Eastern Edge Gallery’s membership creates.

DEADLINE for SUBMISSIONS - November 15th, 3pm

Submit 1 work, all mediums accepted, Title, material, dimension, year made, short description of work (100 words max.), artist name, contact information (full address with postal code and phone number and e-mail), value of the work (for insurance purposes), current c.v., short bio (60 words).

Please package your art work so as not to be damaged before and after installation.

This impressive looking thing is completely modular. You buy a basic sensor box.

Then you add stuff to make the camera you need. You can make a still camera type thing as in the first pic, or configure it in many forms for cine use, like this shoulder outfit.

or if that bores you, how about stereo?

The hype surrounding this product seems to have been justified. Depending on how you look at things this is the third or forth generation of digital cameras and the promise is starting to manifest. Prices start at $2,500 which is reasonable for a high end camera and gob-stoppingly low for high-end video, which all of them can record. Yup, every Red camera is a cine camera. The specs are all amazing, so much so that some look like typographical errors (up to 261 megapixel for starters). The Red web server is experiencing a flood right at the moment, but check it out then the panic is over. The announcement came via Gizmodo where you can see more photos.

I just love the texture and feeling from the colours. Roland has several in a series of these, which were shot as reflections in windows. There’s lots more interesting work in his photostream on Flickr including a fine set of pictures from his neighborhood in Halifax NS.
