Andrea Rodgers dishes out advice, recommendations and her views.
Andrea is a Dating and Relationship Expert & Columnist for HealthCentral Network’s SexualHealthConnection.com. Andrea began dispensing pearls of wisdom in the fall of 2006. Styling herself “Miss A” on the website Late Night Shots, Andrea distinguished herself as the voice of reason. Men and women of Washington DC’s Georgetown social scene quickly discovered that her advice is timeless and invaluable. She started answering relationship questions for the greater Washington, DC area through her blog on Mervis Diamond Importers’s website. Now she is sharing her advice with the rest of the world on Heath Central’s Sexual Health Connection.
Born in Holland, raised in North Carolina, and abundant in impeccable taste and Southern charm, Andrea is something of a Steel Magnolia. As a small child, a terrible car accident hospitalized Andrea for months leaving Andrea’s face scarred for much of her childhood, resulting in teasing and giving Andrea a sense of compassion for others. As an adult, her parents’ divorce, her own divorce, a broken engagement, and an abusive relationship taught Andrea that we can learn from adversity. Those experiences (plus a few more!) and her personal observations inform her opinions and the advice she shares with others.
Andrea Rodgers is well-known in the Washington area for her tireless work on behalf of charitable organizations. Since 2006, she has served as President of The Courage Cup, an IRS designated 501(c) (3) non-profit corporation which was established to help at-risk urban youth. The Courage Cup supports programs in the mid-Atlantic region which give disadvantaged children individualized attention and a positive alternative activity to keep them in school and off the streets.
Andrea also sits on the board of Innocents at Risk, a child-advocacy non-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization established to fight the trafficking and exploitation of women and children through awareness programs aimed at educating the public of these crimes. Innocents at Risk partners with NGO’s and The United States Department of State, which has endorsed the organization’s efforts on behalf of the three million women and children who are trafficked annually worldwide.
Andrea supports the American Red Cross via the Host Committee for Oscar Night DC. She is a member of the Junior League of Washington and Daughters of the American Revoluntion. She has volunteered through DC Cares for Habitat for Humanity, and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Additionally, her past philanthropic work includes Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Society Ties and Man & Woman of the Year campaign; Chair of the Steering Committee for the Corcoran Gallery of Art’s 1869 Society; Founder of Blondes vs. Brunettes which benefits the Alzheimer’s Association; and Founder of Fashion for Paws for the Washington Humane Society. As a graduate of Wake Forest University and Salem Academy, Andrea has served as President of Wake Forest’s DC Alumni Club and on Salem Academy’s Alumni Board.
