Sorry to burst your bubble, guys, but I just saw it and thought it was terrible.
This film is too long and there's simply too much going on. It's 180 degrees opposite from Batman Begins.
Ledger was a very talented actor, but this character is so cold hearted that I quickly lost interest in him. The violence in this film is not comic book violence (or anything close). Much of the violence seems inspired by national tragedies (Oklahoma City) or are acts that could actually be perpetrated in our crazy world. I also didn't like seeing young children in very serious peril.
I felt the movie was more a action/drama with characters in wild costumes than a comic book brought to the screen.
That having been said, my intent is not to turn anybody off to this movie. Many (or most) of you will go crazy for it. Have a great tie with it. For me, though, it completely missed.
Not a spoiler, but...you'll LOVE the origin of the Batcycle!
