Blue Moose Democrat
http://bluemoosedemocrat.blogspot.com
This blog is named “Blue Moose Democrat” for four reasons. First, the name embodies much of my political philosophy by bringing together the fiscal conservatism of the Blue Dog Democrats with the social progressivism of Teddy Roosevelt’s Bull Moose Party. Second, the most important political issue to me is climate change (even if I have been more focused on health care lately), and I feel a certain sense of spirit-filled joy when I get away from cities and into backcountry. A wild and majestic animal like the moose symbolizes both these things. Third, the last two places I have lived, New Hampshire and North Idaho, are very proud of their large moose populations, so in a way, this specific creature is a part of who I am. There's even a movement to make the "Dartmoose" the official mascot of my alma mater, Dartmouth College. And finally, it sounds a little like “Blue Moon,” one of my favorite beers. I also enjoy Red Stripe, Long Trail Ale, Magic Hat #7, and Shiner Bock.
