Yes, Mexican laws do allow foreigners to own property in Mexico. With the signing of NAFTA in 1994 Mexican and US authorities found a way to work around Article 27 of the Mexican Constitution, which establishes a so-called “restricted zone”, within which no foreigner can directly hold the title of a property. This restricted zone stretches 30 kilometers from the coastline and 100 kilometers from any border.
