Bathroom remodeling is one of the best things that I take joy in doing. As a general contractor in Orange County, CA there is nothing like seeing your finishing work at hand.

They did the same to us Crown. We are a GC in Seattle and we looked into using them. They took our credit card number and then while on the phone we decided it was not for us. This was in June of 2009. We thought we were donw with them. October our card gets run by them for $385.00 we called to say whats going on? they said "Why don't you want to use us?" I was like, "are you kidding? you just ran my card, we have no contract no nothing. "They said 'Take it up with your bank, we are not refunding your money." So they commit fraud and use our card and then have the gaul to just say take it up with your bank? We never signed up with them. They are TRUE SCAM ARTISTS stay away. SCAMMMMMMMM SCAMMMMMMMMMM CALFINDER IS A SCAMMMMMMM

Hi Uzi, Just pasting our response from LinkedIn to your concerns.

I'm sorry to see that you didn't get results right off the bat but I have to say in the marketing business...a sample size of three doesn't give you enough info to make accurate assessments.

I don't want to be inflammatory here, I have been on your side of the ball and done a ton of marketing (lead gen companies, home shows, billboards, direct mail. You name it, I’ve done it). I never made any assessment on the quality of a marketing campaign for at least 3 months, and if I didn't have the budget to wait things out...I wouldn't run the campaign.

I think one of the challenges that we have continually run into is the expectation that a contractor is going to derive immediate results from any marketing campaign. We provide a marketing service that generates leads for home improvement contractors according to the scopes of work and area outlined on their contract. It is the responsibility of the client to handle the leads appropriately and turn these leads into booked work. We do accept returns for the distinct reasons laid out in our return policy, which is listed on the contract. Home improvement contractors typically sign up for a 3-6 month trial so that a decent sample size of 20 or so leads can be reviewed and a fair assessment can be made. A sample size of 3 leads is hard to make a fair judgment on.

In my experience I often wanted to pull the plug on marketing campaigns based on my initial feel. Sometimes I wish I had but more times than not the campaigns improved and my ROI stabilized.

It's not my place to suggest how you should be running your business but in my experience making a marketing decision based on 3 leads in the course of a day isn't going to give you an accurate portrayal of any marketing campaign.

I tried them out and was very disappointed.
They present themselves as a very serious company which actually calls to confirm with the customers before sending the leads. From that they went right to the "Sale" saying that there is only one spot left for a contractor in my field of work. Funny to learn they said the same thing to two friends of mine in the same field with in a month period. And it's amazing that the one position was available a month later.

Now for the leads..... They charge $80 per what they call "Lead".
Within 30 minutes I got 3 ($240). every time I got one I dropped anything I was doing and went right to the phone and this is what I got:

1. Got the customer over the phone, she was somewhat upset because as she said, she specificly does not take any estimates and will not tak any for minimum 2 months?! She was just doing some online researching and got to Calfinder (great confirmation).

2. Got the customer over the phone, I hear hammering in the back, the guy tells me he has Home Depot day workers working there and almost finished with the work. He actually asked for over the phone advise for some finishes but never had any intention to get an estimate.

3. Called, got those pre-recorded voice mails. Left a messege, called again twice a day for a week - no response.
Tried emailing, again nothing. I still don't know if the guy is real.

Also don't forget they charge $450!!!! for the "Set up" and $150 monthly "maintenance" (no idea what that means)..... Basically I'm about $1,000 under and for now I froze the account. I have a few friends who considered Calfinder and I drew the short straw so it was up to me to check them out. Could have been worst (if all of us would try it).

If you are a contractor do not use this company...They do not give you any leads that are good. They rip you off. I am seeking legal counsel to get my money back.

This company ripped me off...... Charged me $80 a lead without my consent on my credit card for 19 leads and i set only 2 .... Most of the rest were either sold 2 weeks prior or... never waned an estimate... I asked why they sent bogus leads ... they replied they would send more bogus leads but not refund... BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY
