Cat Aggression

Watching two cats fighting aggressively can be a very upsetting sight. Seeing a cat attack a person is worse, especially if that person is you or a child. Why has this happened? Were there any warning signs? Was the cat teased or attacked? What can be done for the person, for the cat?
