I'm Back In The Land Of Promise

Yeh, I arrived in Davao at about 4 pm last June 6th, Friday. As usual, EJ, my committed bestfriend took me from the airport + PAL fare sponsor and apartment-soon-to-be-new-mate. Wow! I saw some of my schoolmates there too. I knew EJ won't let that night pass without me singin'. So, ok, pakapalan na 'to! It's been years since the last time I went up on stage. Singing has always been my favorite thing to do. So I went up there & didn't care what people might say. Behind my head, it's saying: Nobody knows you here, Catea. If there's anyone, they would barely know you. And if somebody throw you tomatoes, they're just drunk, thank them for lycopene. :D Hell I care. "I'm a bit nervous"- is all I have said before singing Jennifer Love Hewitt's Cool With You. Naks! I did it again.

The Blackout At Home & MERALCO

We had a blackout tonight which started at 6pm. I was sleeping in our couch when it happened. All I thought was, our electric power provider must have cut it out coz we didn't pay our 1,369.80 bucks bill yet. It was due last May 30th. I stood up, feeling the sweat running from my neck downward. "Oh, no..." We didn't receive any disconnection notice yet. My cousins were irritably panicking. They called the maintenance person of the condo to check if we have any problems with the wirings. All he said is we need to call MERALCO.

Again... "Oh, no." Of all the controversies that's been currently airing on T.V. and over the radio, it's them I least want to hear about. I believe that started when they released a new scheme hell I forgot when. I sigh. I shouldn't care!?

Finally... now I'm writing. After all, I thanked them, I have to.

It's my blog's 1st Blogoversary! I never knew it would reach this far. Blogging publicly is something I didn't expect I could relentlessly do coz I was more into private blogging. Cathara22's year of memories were built with happiness, rants, dramas, & later on... reviews and everything else in one. I was 22 when I made this blog, its title would remind me every now & then that once in my 22nd year, I declared a special event.

And so for the celebration, my cousins & I went to the World Pyrolympics 2008 yesterday, May 31st! I got 4 pseudo kids now since bro moved here from Davao to study. We arrived at like 2 minutes before the last fireworks display started. Hayyy... We weren't able to buy tickets & watch it closer. But that was so amazing, all we could hear are people's WOW-ta-Mouth! I'll upload more videos soon. But for now, this is what I got. Taken near MOA's parking lot. A Green For A Change

Why did I change my template again? :D I just thought I need a change since it's my blogoversary in 2 days, June 1st! Thanks to eblogtemplates again! It's where I got my previous template too. This is so new that I feel lucky enough that I got it. I wasn't the thousandth download-er anymore, lol. This is probably my most serious-looking-template of all. I like its wide width for post that it looks neat for a normal size font.

And I'll be joining the Open Boat Day 2008! It will be this coming Sunday, June 1, from 1030am until 5pm. The Rainbow Warrior will be docked at Pier 13 of Manila South Harbor. It was originally scheduled on May 24th but was postponed because of the monsoon weather. Well, I guess this GreenPeace event just want to go along with my blog's special day, lol.

To My First Love, Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday to EJ! My crazy bestfriend, lol! Tell me he's not crazy with some of his youtube videos here. And I have no shame telling the world that he's my first love, lol. Long had I kept my feelings for him and revealed it after 2 years. He's my committed bestfriend, my bestest bestfriend in the world! Although we had a minor fight few days ago, he still swallowed his pride and sent me a message first. He's one of the sweetest. Some of you may recognize him coz he used to work as a host in KSP of ABS-CBN Davao. And also hosted major events all over the country. ;-)

Before I go further, I'm inviting you guys to watch his 2nd Indie Film 'The Thank You Girls' which will be shown sometime on July. This is the trailer of his upcoming film.

It's been 7 wonderful years since I first met EJ. As a shy girl who came from an all girls school, I had a culture shock entering college with 95% guys out of about 40 students in our Engineering class. And that class included him. A handsome, snob,smart guy- as many would describe EJ every first meeting. A guy whom I competed with academically, whom I loved arguing with during our trigonometry class, whom I loved clashing with philosophy and whom I envied so much when he got the first spot in our Dean's list. I wouldn't forget how I cried in JS Gaisano Mall's towel section when I heard that news, lol.
Then one day during our Intramural 2001, I can't remember how, but we were asked to represent our department in a duet singing contest. We were 1st year students and didn't expect to get the 1st place for singing 'I want to spend my lifetime loving you'! That was a very wonderful experience, and a very wonderful start of our true friendship.

2nd year, he founded the Teatrong Tubo, a theater club which we started with 5 officers and few members. The club's members were tripled as we didn't expect that many would audition. I am proud to be a part of a club which has performed not only inside the campus but in many outside events as well. And now? It's still functioning though we're no longer in college. :)

Then, I fell in love with him. Who wouldn't fall for a guy who's so sweet? He usually leave corny sweet messages in my locker(we shared 1 locker, lol:D). He never failed in making me cry before, and because I was deeply in love with him then, I forgave and forget. He never really had an idea until I told him before I bugged off. I didn't care about the famous lines we know about falling in love with a bestfriend. That it's a biggest mistake? No, just never give a damn at all. ;-)

To make our long story short, he remained true and sweet until now, though we never became bf/gf, lol. He visits/surprises me here in Manila most of the time. He was here on my birthdays, his birthday, christmas, valentine's, so on and so forth. And now, I just feel like sharing my letter for him in public.

Old but still new (and now in public :D) It feels like Cathy-the-old-you-knew, don't you think?=( It is so me when I write letters you know that. I miss you J, ever since I left for living a semi-independent life. I can't thank you enough for everything we've shared. You, your family, our friends became my family for a very long time when I had none. We're always here and there for each other when those stupid family problems stressed us and all... After all these years, you know my weaknesses and my flaws and you still accept me despite them.. You know my strengths and you always push me to push :D.

I miss our rehearsals, our cutting classes, prayers, sleepovers, pillow fights, night trips, arguments, cart wheels, crying moments, star gazing at PTA ground, long walks in Ilustre St., just to buy cheap burgers, pandesal or bavarian. I can go on J, but writing this makes me wish to bring back the old times.

I am so sorry for all the pain that I caused. I am deeply aware that I've changed. But I just changed into a more expressive person you always liked. I want you to know that I'm always proud of what you have achieved and have become. Do you remember 'Remember me this way' song that I always sing for you? The lines were heard and all my wishes for you came true so far. I still wish you all the success in life. And thank you for always including me in your plans. I so appreciate, you just don't know. And I love you. You would always be my most globally competitive bet :D Though I have my own personal life now, I hope you understand my decisions. Don't worry, I don't want to change even a thing with our friendship spent together or not. This maybe isn't as sweet as my old letters but everything here is true.

This is an unfinished drawing of me and my boyfriend that I made for our 1st monthsary last Dec. 26th. On May 26th, it would be our half year anniversary and his 23rd birthday!

What Makes Man Human?

When I speak about human rights, I speak about me as me. I speak about you who have the right to read my public blog. I speak about the one's right of freely breathing the air. This is a natural law that were gifted to us even before we were born. But not every human being follow this very simple law. In what grounds would I take those greedy people who only think about their belief, money, race, power, and self?

In an innovating world that we have, most only see the advantages of what they call development and stress an attempt of not knowing the other side of the world. Being in a third world country who's claiming itself innovating for good just throws sh*ts and garbages to an average person like me. How much more to those who belong in Class B,C,D to Z? They're not even in vitamins anymore but pills that could only make us sickly dizzy.

They maybe are those who never took even a step to a school because of poverty. They maybe are those who were sexually abused by their own evil fathers. They maybe are those who were innocent victims of terrorism. I am still more lucky compare to other millions out there. Yet, I still feel no justice when I see a large amount of tax deduction on my pay slip. (sigh)

Human rights as a subject has branches of different sub subjects that could only be understood if someone would make everyone study and understand. It's complicated. What I'm saying is about those who are too naive to not get what his/her rights means for oneself. And only would he know until his rights get impaired and are turned to the left direction.

Yesterday long ago, in my humanities subject if I'm not mistaken, each one were asked to write about"What makes man human?". My pen took hours to begin even a dot and wrote a philosophical essay. But now, I simply think this way so even a 1 year old could understand, What makes a man human is to respect his own human rights and his co-humans'.-Catherine Salazar. :D

Today is the first anniversary of Bloggers Unite and this time we’re fighting for Human Rights. This is my small step of letting others know about their rights.
