Goldcar added 150 euro extra to my credit card for damaged tyre. There was nothing wrong with the tyre and it is just another scam so stay clear of this company.

We did not have SUCH a bad experience but bad enough - the gold car office is not in the airport, you have to (eventually) find the people - i had to call the office becuase they were not were they said they would be - then get in a van (with no explaination as to where we were going, how long it would be or where my fellow passengers should wait) to go to their office. At the office I was greeted with a long que, rude service and extra charges that undid any savings I had made through through booking the "cheap" alternative to Hertz or EuroCar. They have a pick up full - return empty policy which inevitably leaves them with extra petrol as you can never use it up exactly and the tank seemed to be excessively expensive. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEM

I AM LISTING THIS BECAUSE I DO NOT WANT ANY OTHER FAMILY TO GO THROUGH THE EXPERIENCE WE HAVE GONE THROUGH !
Carjet hired us a car with Golcar Rental at Malaga airport. Golcar hired us a car with a worn out clutch which failed on the way to our villa. When we rang them they came and towed their car away and left myself and my husband and a 2 year old child with all our cases on the side of a mountain with no car (it was 3pm and 35 degrees)! We were left with no car for over 6 hours and spoken to like we were villans. When we returned home we were charged £560 to our credit card and told that we had to pay for the clutch to be mended as we drove the car through a field. It was all lies and Carjet did nothing for us. They failed to reply to my emails and when they eventually replied they told us it was not their problem. Do not hire a car in Spain through carjet as you will be hired a car through Goldcar. Goldcar have a scam in place where they basically do not maintain their cars and when a part such as the clutch is about to fail they continue to hire it out. Their small print then states you have to pay for this !! We'd have been better to drive it off a mountain as that would have been covered in the accident cover they will tell you about !!
Goldcar charge 150 euro extra to my credit card. The payment was without my authorisation and charged immediately after returning car. They told credit card company it was for damaged tyre. The tyre was not damaged and it appears to be a scam. Still fighting for money back but won't give up. Do not use them.
