Clumsy Cook

http://clumsycook.com

Clumsy Cook blog is about being young and inexperienced (but passionate!) about food. I live in Princeton, NJ with my boyfriend (a recently published author) Jim Salant and the blog features reviews of restaurants in NYC and NJ as well as recipes, thoughts, and frustrations about learning how to become a serious "foodie." I hope to one day (in the near future) make food my full-time job, and I hope to chronicle reaching this goal. Most recipes are adaptations from magazines and cookbooks, but I am slowly creating more and more originals. I create monthly posts about animal welfare, and I strongly oppose industrial food processing. I make a point to try and eat as much farm fresh food as I can. I try to be as warm and funny as can and I love meeting new people and learning new things through the blog!

I can’t write much today. My migraines continue to take their toll, and this past weekend we took a trip to Southern California to see our nephew, getting back on Monday and not catching up on nearly enough sleep yet. I should probably be sleeping...

Sorry to be away so long, I’ve been missing this blog lately, but migraines, MRI’s, and doctor’s visits have kept me away (not to mention all the applesauce making and pork shoulder braising…) but today, on one of my first mig...

Living in the Northeast, we experience pretty dramatic season changes: one day, the world will be green and warm; the next, bone-chilling with a rainbow of reds, oranges, and yellows.  The change into fall can make a person think—about the new...

I have a few favorite people in this world, who probably don’t know they hold such a place in my heart.  There’s Dee, at Highland Company Gourmet Market, who raises her own cattle, cattle that provide the best beef I’ve ever tasted...

  • Cauliflower soup with crème fraîche.

After all that Stockton Soup Lady business last post, I think it’s high time for me to show off a few more of my soups.  This one, a cauliflower soup with leeks, crème fraîche, toasted pine nuts, and meyer lemon-infused olive oil, is a favor...

I love when a food blog not only shares recipes but shares stories and a glimpse of life outside the kitchen. Reading your blog is like having a conversation with a long lost friend. It's a definite new favorite of mine!
