CSN Stores News Flash -- The ChiliPad, that helps couples to change the temperature on different sides of the bed, has just landed as part of an AP story. This photo, from one of CSN's sites, bedroomfurniture.com, is also now one of the most e-mailed...
I wanted a name brand of mattress pad with Outlast Fabric Technology. I ordered a Serta Perfect Day Mattress Pad. MattressPads.com shipped a different brand called TempAssure. Nowhere on the product was the Serta name displayed; in fact, it had no company identification at all- just a number on the law tag. There was no Outlast branding on the product either. (Before this purchase, I did not know how to recognize Outlast in a product- I had to ask the Outlast company itself- there is a visible honeycomb pattern underneath the top layer of fabric.) I contacted MattressPads.com and told them I was sent the wrong item. At first, they said they would ship me the correct item along with a return label so I would not have to pay shipping again. Later that day, they emailed me saying that TempAssure is the same thing as Serta Perfect Day and they would not pay for return shipping. Since I specifically ordered a name brand product that was pictured on their website and something else was substituted, without my advance knowledge or approval, I believe they should reimburse me in the full amount of the purchase. I also ordered a pillow. There are real problems with this product. There is no Serta or Outlast branding on the pillow itself- you can't see the Outlast honeycomb pattern inside so you don't really know if it's in there. (Before this purchase, I did not know how to recognize Outlast in a product- I had to ask the Outlast company itself.) This looks like any other standard pillow. The law tag on the pillow itself is not labelled as a Serta product- it's labelled "nVision." You have to connect the dots with a lot of research to find the relationship. According to nVision, they only put Outlast on one side of the pillow- the side with the blue stripe. Incidentally, there is nothing in the packaging that tells you to sleep on the side with the blue stripe- I learned that from a conference call with nVision. If you accept what you can't see- that the pillow actually has Outlast in it- what happens after you put on a pillow protector and a pillow case and you can no longer see the blue stripe? How will you know which side to sleep on? I think that is just poor, cheap design. If people are looking for an Outlast pillow, wouldn't they expect to find it on both sides? That was my expectation, and there is no mention that Outlast is only on one side of the pillow in the MattressPads.com website. Also, the fabric on the pillow was pilling right out of the bag.
The bottom line is, despite the fact that they sent the wrong thing, they refuse to reimburse for shipping. This is bait and switch, in my opinion. I have gone round and round with them over the phone and have gotten nowhere- do not do business with this company!
