Double X Geeks

Double X Geeks

http://doublexgeeks.today.com/

Double X refers to XX, two X chromosomes. Who has two X chromosomes? Girls of course! In short, this is a blog about girl geeks.

Why is this topic even relevent anymore? We’ve come a long way, and now you can find females in every career, doing every geeky thing imaginable, so what’s left? The fact is that we’re still horribly out numbered most of the time, and we are still alienated by both our own gender, and by male geeks as well for our interests.

Being a geek does not mean you lose all interest in traditionally female things either. I love crafting, kittens and babies. I also love RAM, firefly and pwning n00bs. I also like to dress up and wear makeup sometimes.

Basically, this blog address things that are of particular interest to female geeks. I share tips on cosplaying, con safety, and how to be a geek in everyday life. But this is certainly not a girls only club! A good chunk of my posts interest geeks of all shapes, sizes, and chromosomal value.

To try and separate me and my cash! I came across What is Blik tonight and am so full of want. I did a post a while ago about DIY vinyl decals. They work, but take a lot of ink and made my printer sad. So how excited was I to find another source of d...

There’s only so much chainmaille you can wear yourself, and it’s a bit of an expensive hobby as well. The best cure for both these problems is to start selling it! So, I’ve opened a store at Esty called Chained to the Strange! I think it’s ...

The theme of this post came to me while working on my Linux lab (Redhat, uck). The lab involved a lot of going back and forth between root and my account, which while not difficult, was a little tedious. In a fit of laziness I tried to SUDO it instea...

Once again I succeed in dropping off the face of the planet! Sorry about that! One of my geeky facets is my love of science. I grew up in a family where asking “why” was always met with a clear and complete answer. We were always learning...
