Run by Chef John, a former professional Chef, and Instructor at the California Culinary Academy, Foodwishes.com is one of the most unique food blogs on the web. What makes Foodwishes.com so unique is that Chef John has combined what used to be three separate types of online food and cooking content, into one very entertaining and engaging destination.
There are thousands of recipe websites, which are simply indexes of written recipes people have posted. There are countless photo-laced, food writing blogs that contain article upon static article about every imaginable food and cooking topic. And then there are the millions of homemade food videos, hosted on video sharing sites such as Youtube. Chef John idea was to combine the best of all three, and thus Foodwishes.com was born.
I wanted a fun place for foodies (slang for people whose main passion is food and cooking) to come where not only could they get a great new recipe, but they could also read an interesting article about the dish, its history, etc., and a place where they could watch a free, 5-7 minute video presentation of the recipe they had just read about. I basically built the blog that I would want to visit every day. Whatever their food wish was I would try and satisfy it! One the running jokes on Chef Johns site is the fact that no one has every seen him in any of the over one hundred video recipe clips. I do not show myself in these video recipe clips, just my hands and the food. I want to be the like the anti-FoodTV chef, which is usually more about the chef than the food.

I just got back from the Slow Food Taste Pavilions, and after four hours of some very serious grazing, I'm in no condition to do a proper post. Hopefully, after a Labor Day of rest and recuperation, I'll have some cogent thoughts to share regarding t...
Here's a little slide show of photos I took at last nights SFN'08's Taste Pavilion sneak preview. A select few VIP's (and myself) were invited to see an impressive array of organic, sustainable, and more importantly, delicious food products that are ...
