Training your dog does not have to be a huge deal. I saw several types of dog training collars at http://www.petloverspalace.com the other day when I looking for my pet supplies, Not only do they have collars but a very large assortment of pet accessories at very low prices.

This is in response to JJ, who posted that she "just attended an introductory session...."
I was there that day; I'm not the one with the "clearly aggressive dog", but was there with my border collie/aussie mix. The comments about the trainer are unfair. She did start about 3 minutes late. She apologized for taking the cell phone call, and explained the call was from someone who was planning to attend the session and was lost.
I was concered about the HUGE german shepherd, too, but the dog's owner was well in control; it was a big arena, and we all had the freedom to stand wherever we wanted. JJ and her dog were 50 feet away, and safe.
JJ left before the demonstration even began. To then say that the trainer's "professionalism and...integrity" were lacking without giving her the opportunity to show it is disgraceful.
Had she stayed even a moment, JJ would have witnessed a very well educated, talented trainer who clearly loves animals and understands how to teach others. An indication of her integrity and professionalism was that she never commented about JJ's decision to leave, other than to say she hoped she could come another time.
By session's end, the trainer showed the shepherd's owner how to lead and control the dog without using wisible correction. It was amazing. I would go on about the training, but don't want to distract from the intent my comments...to dispute JJ's unfounded criticism.

I just attended an introductory session. The trainer started late, answered her cell phone during the session and didn't address the clearly aggressive dog in the arena. I'm sure their training methods have merit, but I have some serious concerns about professionalism and the integrity to ask aggressive dogs/owners to leave.

5 stars Sit Means Sit believer!

Yaddo,

Have you seen the website and looked through the videos, checked out the testimonials? Your accusation of dogs being afraid is extremely wrong. Also, your "shock" collar assumption is way off as well. In fact, the E-collar can build confidence in submissive dogs - again, proof in the videos on the website.

By the way, when your dog is a puppy is a GREAT time to start training!

My advice to you is to get more experience with the Sit Means Sit training before you knock it. In fact, I CHALLENGE you to find your nearest trainer and call for a demo (don't worry, they're free). Ask the trainer any question you wish about the training, even voice your opinion about it. I bet that by the time you are finished and have better knowledge about the system (it's not used as "correction", by the way) you'll be whistling a different tune!

Sit means sit is a complete joke. Why don't we put the e-collar on you and shock you everytime we tell you to do something. Tell me thats not a correction! There are other ways to correct a dog in order to get the dog to do what you want. I can't beleive these guys are putting e collars on 1 year old dogs. They are still puppies! Only very hard dogs will put up with this kind of constant corrections (even when not needed), most of the sit means sit dogs I have seen end up being afraid to leave daddys side to go after the decoy because they are afraid of getting shocked.
