You and you're Al Gore groupies fall all over yourselves trying to blame auto emissions industrial pollution for global warming, which is considered by the majority of the scientists world wide to be global climate change instead, and not necessarily man caused. No one seems to remember the effects of the 1991 Pinatubo eruption in the Philippines which were felt worldwide. It ejected roughly 10 billion metric tons (10 cubic kilometers) of magma, and 20 million tons of SO2, bringing vast quantities of minerals and metals to the surface environment. It injected large amounts of aerosols into the stratosphere—more than any eruption since that of Krakatoa in 1883. Over the following months, the aerosols formed a global layer of sulfuric acid haze. Global temperatures dropped by about 0.5 °C (0.9 °F), and ozone depletion temporarily increased substantially. It was said to have emitted more pollutants into the atmosphere than all the industrialized nations in history. Then there is Yellowstone National Park, which naturally produces 40 million metric ton of co2 every year. That's more than ten coal fired electrical generation plants produce in a year. That doesn't include the methane, the sulfur dioxide, the hydrogen sulfide, just to name a few of the many natural pollutants emitted into the air. These are just examples of natural emissions which will never be controlled, not even by Obama and his Cap and Trade mentality!
Give it a rest my friend, there is more to what's happening than auto and industrial emissions. Try to consider other factors besides the one's espoused by your mentor, Mr. Gore. And, if his movie is any indication of facts proving that we are witnessing global warming, I'd rest my case right now. Another little thought you might consider. Here in N.W. Wyoming, in the Jackson Hole Valley, on three separate occasions glaciers invaded the valley from the high country in and around Yellowstone. Ice depths have been estimated to have been in excess of 3,000 ft thick on the valley floor. Guess what, they're gone, and there weren't any cars, or steel mills, or coal fired plants around to melt them. My God, could it be it simply warmed up without us. Have you ever considered the fact that to a great extent what we are seeing is a cyclical pattern that has occurred for millions of years. None of us want to do anything to make the situation worse, but there is a lot more going on than man's intervention, believe me. Oh, and do you think China is going to jump right on the "band wagon" to help us clean up the atmosphere. Yeah, and Nancy Pelosi is going to sit still through Obama's nest speech to congress. Just remember, as a point of contention here, if L.A. were to completely eliminate all of their greenhouse gases their air pollution would remain at 20% of the current level, just from what is coming across the Pacific from China. One might want to consider the problem in more rational, practical, and well thought out manner, and come to a consensus as to what the best approach might be, and how it can be implemented globally, not unilaterally. Our economy is shaky enough right now, without creating more trade barriers like Cap and Trade.
