Good Life Northwest
http://goodlifenw.blogspot.com
Good Life Northwest celebrates the joys of life in general, but especially in the region I've always lived in and loved: America's Pacific Northwest, specifically the Puget Sound area. I live in Tacoma now, but spent my childhood on Vashon Island, where I was born into the fifth generation of my family there.
I write about the quality of life in the Northwest, interesting people, places, things to do, nostalgia, history, etc., all reflecting my positive outlook on life and often my sense of humor. This blog isn't a place to come to for news, unless it's good news. You already get plenty of the other kind. Think of it as a place to relax, a comfy "front porch" for your brain, usually so bombarded with stressful thoughts. Sit down, smile, laugh, look out and see the beauty around you, feel happy, and rediscover the world as a good place full of good people.

Veterans\' Day - words from a Civil War Veteran
In 1909 a Union Army officer named Philip Cheek published a history of the Sauk County Riflemen, another name for Company A of the 6th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry, in which both he and my great-great-grandfather served. It was part of the famous "Ir...
Catching a Rainbow
This is no fish tale. It was the biggest rainbow I'd ever seen. I don't mean a trout. I mean a complete and perfect, faintly double semi-circle of radiant colors that, from my vantage point, arched in full glory from the Narrows Bridge to Vashon I...
