HAS CONGRESS SECURALISM TOTALLY LOST ITS INDIAN DHARMIC ROOTS?
This is a rejoinder to the piece on ‘Congress-Delhi’s greatest betrayal of the Tamils/TN’ exposing further Congress-Delhi’s adharmic part in the Sri Lanka (SL) genocide. The notorious brutality of the SL genocide stirs the conscience of humanity. Genocide is a heinous crime against humanity that those directly or indirectly partnering it are at the very least morally culpable. The tragedy, in India, the land of Dharma, the Congress (overtly/covertly) supports a genocide with (and funding to procure) lethal arms (cluster bombs, phosphorous bombs), commandos, military hardware (most en route via TN) and above all super-class intelligence for use on innocent civilians. Gruesome pictures of the atrocities caused by such support are in the public domain world-wide.
Rajiv (Sonia) family revenge passion – drives Congress support for SL
Sonia Congress harps on the alleged (1991) killing of Rajiv by the Tamils/LTTE for its support of the SL genocide revealing that the family’s passion for revenge for that alleged 1991 killing still remains strong. Forgetting and forgiving crimes more so alleged ones are dharmic values that Congress has long forgotten. SL’s genocidal atrocities cause anguished horror in international capitals, but no such emotions are registered in the official statements in post 2004 Sonia Congress; hence Thangabalu’s ‘not forgive’ an alleged role in the assassination of Rajiv is basically a ‘revenge lust’ mantra. Revenge is adharmic in Indian dharmic tradition or culture. Though tens of thousands of Tamil lives were lost, hundreds of thousands injured and millions displaced, these apparently haven’t satiated Rajiv’s soul. Lives of Sikhs were also lost in the immediate aftermath Indra’s killing. Thangabalu’s revenge mantra has the Rajiv family/Sonia Congress stamp of approval. Echo’s of Thangabalu’s revenge mantra are mechanically repeated by the likes of Chos, Sudharsans, Subramania Swamys and sections of the sectarian media.
Dharmic BJP/NDA – delivered a peace (1992-2004) interlude for Tamils
In contrast before 2004, non-Congress regimes despite immense pressures scrupulously avoided support for the SL genocide on the Tamils/LTTE in the aftermath of the Rajiv killing. The BJP/NDA though damned by powerful media groups as non-secularists wasn’t sufficiently convinced about the alleged role of the Tamils/LTTE in Rajiv’s killing and treated any support for SL (diplomatic, political, military or any other) including a genocide that brutalized the Tamil people collectively as adharmic. Hence BJP/NDA worked with and blessed the Norwegians efforts to find a genuine ‘political solution’. This produced a ceasefire assuring security for the lives of Tamils especially in areas under the control of the Tamils/LTTE. The military strength of the resistance restrained the mob and armed forces violence (rampant before 1983 or the pre-resistance/LTTE years) on the Tamils even in areas outside the Tamil/LTTE controlled areas. These have since raised their ugly head again.
Congress-Delhi rule (2004- )
This peace interlude was shattered when UPA/Congress came to power in 2004. The peace dividends (improved security for lives, improved economic well being, civil administration, policing, health, education and other necessary infrastructures) brightened up the lives of the Tamils in the Tamil homelands under an incorruptible Tamil/LTTE resistance leadership. These are now in great jeopardy.
Adharmic values dominate Congress brand secularism
Congress-Delhi’s active support for the scotched earth attacks by SL (vivid TV images bear witness) ravaging the Tamil homelands is causing wanton destruction. Congress-Delhi returned to Delhi in 2004 with a meager 23 percent of total votes polled (hardly a mandate) beguiled the unsuspecting TN parties with a mandate anti-thetical to the revenge seeking anti-Tamil Rajiv family agenda into a UPA Coalition. This in itself is an adharmic act laying the foundation for its great betrayal of Tamilians and TN. In the delicately balanced UPA coalition, the Rajiv family revenge could only be implemented by stealth; ‘stealth’ is an alien adharmic trait of Congress secularism. To ensure UPA’s longevity the Congress initially focused on policy areas where the secrecy of its covert support was fool-prove against early exposure to expose its sinister ‘betrayal’ of the TN UPA partners too early in its rule.
The ‘cloak and dagger’ intrigue of the South Block in Delhi
The policy area amenable for such stealthy (‘cloak and dagger’) acts was the diplomatic front. The close knit sectarians in South Block wielding power far in excess of their political or electoral clout had the patronage of the Rajiv family. Like the Rajiv family the South Block sectarians also had scores to settle for the 1960s Dravidian movement that dislodged these sectarians’ stranglehold (losing the political, economic, social, cultural, educational plums) in TN. The South Block used the attacks on SL Tamils to serve as acts of revenge against the 1960s Dravidian Tamilians. The South Block sectarians unaccountable to the electorate and in strategic positions in the Delhi bureaucracy especially the RAW, and the Foreign Office were in an advantageous position to accomplish their adharmic revenge. They achieved remarkable success from the IPKF years using covert anti-Tamil policies in support of the Buddhist/Sinhalas in SL. Actions in the intelligence and diplomatic areas do escape public scrutiny especially when a close knit group acts in concert and in utmost secrecy.
Following their successes in the adharmic ‘cloak and dagger’ intrigue the South Block indulged in far more sinister acts like trading off India’s interest for graces (social, material and others) that SL habitually dispensed lavishly on the South Block. SL bought into the Delhi establishment cheaply. Indra nurtured a viable Tamil resistance but the South Block brought about a one hundred and eighty degrees about turn for India to partner in its destruction. This speaks volumes about the power of this group in Delhi. Its greatest success was securing Congress-Delhi’s crucial support for SL genocide using Bush’s crude ‘anti-terrorism’ weapon against the Tamils/LTTE. Congress-Delhi appeared totally sold on the intellectually indefensible Bushism ‘there are no good and bad terrorists’ slogan that automatically lumped as terrorist even those who fight a genocide, an apartheid (Mandela) and even independence/colonialism. Dogmatic Bushism was decisively rejected by the US electorate lately.
To demonise the Tamils/LTTE ‘terrorist’, SL recruited gangs of counter-terrorism experts mostly drawn from amongst the anti-Dravidian sectarians with links to the South Block. Blatant falsehood was their stock in trade. Using clearly suspect SL dossiers the pundits in the RAW and the Foreign Office repackaged them into dossiers (their dicey contents outclassed the disgraced WMD dossiers presented to the UN just before US invaded Iraq) promoting the case to list the Tamils/LTTE ‘terrorist’. When SL failed miserably in its efforts earlier, the first act of Congress-Delhi on coming to power in 2004 was supporting the SL genocide through its diplomatic offensive in getting the EU to list the Tamils/resistance ‘terrorists’ in 2005. This added unprecedented levels of pain on an already traumatized Tamils. This sinister Congress-Delhi’s advocacy of the SL case behind the backs of its TN partners succeeded when EU trustingly acted on India’s dossier to list the Tamil resistance/LTTE terrorists. The same EU countries now apparently regret that decision evident in their resolutions voicing graver concerns over the SL genocide. However Congress India stubbornly refuses to benefit from the benevolent wisdom dawning elsewhere (EU and the world) to swim against the tide of mainstream international opinion.
Discounting Congress’ Bush quote (‘there are no good and bad terrorists’), domestically the hawks in Pranab, Chidambaram and Thangabalu in TN are unlikely to moderate the anti-Tamil rhetoric. Indian observers are puzzled over the vexed question of what the quid pro quo is for such an amorous flirting with a world renowned genocider especially when the damage to India’s international image by this act is immense. Issues of public good verses private gain of the key Congress players on this issue do come to the fore. The electorate is sure to scrutinize closely the records of the non-secular BJP/NDA (1992- 2004) period and that of the post 2004 Congress/UPA period. The BJP/NDA goes into the elections as a credible, truthful, non-partisan and dharmic arbiter in this brutal conflict.
International opinion (except Congress-Delhi) flows in favour of Tamils cause
Briefly the SL regimes and its benefactor the secular Congress even turned hostile to the diaspora’s relief work as impeding the SL genocide objective of destroying the Tamil homelands to establish a pure Buddhist-Sinhala Sri Lanka. The immorality of the methods used to sabotage the relief work included doctored dossiers on relief organizations portraying them as terrorist fronts. This initially caused much hardship interrupting the flow of urgent relief to the affected areas. The diaspora’s persistence in presenting the ‘truth’ underlying the sufferings in the genocide led host nations to take a more appreciative approach of the activities of the diaspora with trusting and continuing liaison mechanisms in place with the host country authorities allowing the diaspora’s humanitarian activities and their funding to proceed smoothly.
The diaspora exposing the brutality of the SL genociders world-wide has been equally successful; the only shortfall being that the host countries are yet to pursue vigorously on sanctions as in Zimbabwe, and to bring the geociders before the UN courts for genocidal crimes. After Milosovic, the President of Sudan faces action for the genocide in Darfur. Similar measures by the international community are likely to restrain the SL genociders to reduce the trauma for the Tamils. The betrayed Tamilians/Indians look forward keenly to the return of the dharmic non-Congress (BJP/NDA)-Delhi after the next elections to end speedily the adharmic war that UPA supports giving peace and relief for the Tamils from the brutal SL genocide. How the electorate in TN votes will be decisive in determining the fate of the Tamils in SL.
