In The Red

I’m a 40 year old recovering shopaholic who wracked up nearly £32,000 pounds in debt and realised that something had to give - and fast. So began a year of my life when I went completely cold turkey with consumerism and stopped shopping! In 2008, the account of that year - with all its trials and tribulations - was published as ‘In the Red - The Diary of a Recovering Shopaholic’. Now to mark the launch of the paperback edition and the 3rd anniversary of that fateful day when I put away my credit cards and started counting my cash, I’m starting this blog and hope you'll join me in the next stage of my 'recovery.

I've come to the conclusion that if you don't officially celebrate your birthday, then you don't officially have to add another year on to your age.Having missed my own 40th last year through ill health and having a very low key birthday this year th...
Boom & Bust Banking - Part I
I’ve been so preoccupied with playing nurse over the last few days, that a date I’d been waiting to celebrate for the last five years went by almost un-noticed.That date was the 6th November and it marked the last installment of a hefty loan I ha...
