Some musing about hip hop music mostly from alternative and indy artists.
Recent PostsIt's been a while since I've check the CMJ Hip Hop Charts. Seems there are a few things there that are not on my radar. The artists in bold are the ones that got by me ... but not for long. What about you hip hoppers, what's on your radar? k-fox.1 ...
Wu Tang's RZA continues to add to his creative palette. In addition to being a producer, actor, director among other things, he's also an author.Although "The Tao of Wu" is not RZA'a first stab at writing, he should garner some attention with this co...
I'm a bit tardy on this one; The Roots' vid for "How I Got Over". I won't make any excuses though.Just check the vid and hopefully I can get on to checking out HIGO in the next few days.In the meantime hip hoppers, see if you can pull a little 'get ...

Could legendary hip hop make its way to Broadway? Yes, especially if the focus is on the iconic hip hop group Run-DMC. I'm sure that their native New Yorker status won't hurt.Check the deets in this recent New York Times article:Musical About Run-DMC...

Bron Theronjust to throw some fire on the kettle. It is a big deal for the roots to settle down.
I have been on tour with many groups including the roots and they were hustlin,a show every night almost on multiple tours at once!
also on that mainstream hip hop vs underground or indy stuff yea the market is crazy right now and it really boils down to whos paying to get their name out there.! thats one of the reasons why i made this film about underground hip hop and the struggle to be a mainstream artist. Now that I see the response that I am getting on this subject I decided to reformat my website gearing towards independent music because people care about hip hop with a passion

IrasHey y'all,
Since I'm a new artist (lyricist/composer/producer) in the rap game, I've been interested in your type of website/blog (the indie kind I mean). Your blog is really great and I'd like to have your opinion on my world : www.irasworld.com !!
You can listen to the instrumentals of my upcoming album and read the thread of the concept of that album on the page Iras' Music (www.irasworld.com/iras-music) !!
My voice is being recorded as we speak and the whole songs will be posted as one goes along and the first bash will be posted in few weeks.
However since a lot of people have been asking to listen to my voice, I've posted old collaborations in order for the world to understand my style (www.irasworld.com/iras-music).
Godspeed,
Sincerely,
Iras
