Your work is so incredible and I am enjoying reading your blog. I wish you much success and many commissions!
This is the blog of UK sculptor Jonathan Hateley. My sculpture is produced in bronze and resin bronze casts that are suitable for indoors, outdoor public art and the garden. I am able to take on the design and sculpting of private commissions and public art.
I have sculpted for many years in TV, film and Theatre, mainly at model-making and effects companies as well as a four year job at the English National Opera.
Now though, most of my time is spent in a barn on a farm creating sculptures I choose to create and revealing them to the public through art galleries and exhibitions.
My work is generally representational, both of the human figure, wildlife and other aspects of nature, though these can often be the basis for abstract shapes. My work is in constant development.
I hope my blog will give some insight into life as a sculptor, or at least my life as a sculptor, and create an interest in the work I produce.

I have titled this post 'Why do I sculpt?' as a question to myself in order, to in some way, find a way of answering the question as I write this. It is a question I feel I need to answer for myself as over time doubts have surfaced about this thing...
While working with the smell of resin fumes and a growing layer of resin dust on the floor of my studio, I looked out side to view the good weather, with the sun shining in through my door. As I did so I noticed movement approaching the foot of my do...
