Life in Heaven - The Blog Novel
http://www.lifeinheaven.wordpress.com
This is my second blognovel. My first, August Winter, was written as an experiment. Is it possible to write an entire novel as a blog? And will it be popular as a "published first draft?" The answer to those questions turned out to be "yes" and "that depends on what you mean by popular." August Winter received enough feedback that I stuck to it to the end. It began without an outline. It began without characters. It began with only the smallest inkling of a premise. But readers liked it.
Life in Heaven has a few more things going for it out of the box. For starters, I have an outline this time. And, it's a story that has rattled around my brain for a long, long time. Life in Heaven is the story of John, a soul sent down to earth to learn about life all over again so he can get closer to the choirs of angels and join with God's holy spirit. But there are a few catches along the way. It's not easy going back to earth after "living" in heaven. Temptation and evil are everywhere and haunt John's every move.
Then he learns some frightening truths: How he died, who killed him, and why.
Life in Heaven is also my entry into 2008's NANO WRIMO competition. National Novel Writing Month invites authors of all walks and ages to compose 50,000 or more words in one month. I hope you'll support me by leaving comments or questions, or encourage me to write daily!
I also hope you'll enjoy Life in Heaven and read the first draft, as it's posted, throughout the month of November.

Thanks for reading!
Life in Heaven may contain themes and situations too strong for some readers. Discretion is advised.

Author’s Notes:
1. Places where I’ve used ALL CAPS should be read the same is if they were italicized. I use caps because the formatting doesn’t hold between Q10, Microsoft Word, and the NanoWrimo site. 2. The challenge of Nano Wrimo is “constantly...
Chapter 1 - Conversation With an Embryo
Go ahead. Ask me that again. I can’t promise you’ll like, or even “get,” my answer, but I can promise that I’ll do what I can to help you. You’re making a face. Why? Don’t worry about what I might say because we’re different. At one t...
Chapter 2 - The Pencil and The Lie
Oh, I’m so glad you’re back. It’s not that I’d be lonely without you here. Heaven is NOT a lonely place. I hope you don’t take this the wrong way, but it’s not that I’d miss you either. There is no “missing” in Heaven. How can you m...
Chapter 3 - Glenine’s Song
I wake without waking because I never sleep. I bask in the glow of the warm sun where no sun exists. There is only brilliant warming Light. All around me are the lyrical feelings of The Choir. And, of course, Him. This day is like any other in Heaven...
Chapter 4 - The Raised and The Fallen
“Back to—?” “Earth,” Glenine nods. I gaze skyward and watch the angels swim in currents around one another. They play like enormous birds, their songs flowing down to the golden streets and in and out of every door and window of His house; ...
Chapter 5 - First Lessons
I remain with Glenine for a time until she tells me I can go home. I always find it odd leaving her. I look forward to our time together, viewing the heavenly sea, the golden rays of God’s light making each wave sparkle. I would say I hate to leave...
