Im sure you are inundated with a lot of information lately about budgeting/financial planning in these trying times. One area that is often overlooked though is teaching our kids about good money habits from an early age.

I read a book recently which I ordered from amazon called The Wealthy Child. I read this book over the weekend and found out not only how much my future children might not learn about finances but also how much I didn't know about my own. This is one of the first points that the Author makes in this book, that you cannot possibly raise a financially astute child without having a good deal of 'financial precision' of your own. He goes on from there to lay the foundation of the financial perils and rewards we all will face in order to be prepared for them.

I enjoyed going through his "5 Pillars" that form the foundation of a healthy and wealthy family attitude towards money. Despite his advanced education and professional experience, he broaches the subject with straight forward language and intuition. He even provides a few games that are suitable for children starting at ages 10, and I have to say that I learned a thing or two just thinking about the "Money Game". This was a common theme, I found myself thinking about many of the concepts in this book at odd times after I finished reading it so I can say it certainly had a profound impact on me and for the good of my child.
