Look what I found!

Look what I found!

I hope to paint a smile on your face when you read how I DESIGN my life with other people's waste and make you think again when you run to a shop next time to buy the latest have-to-have item. Also read how you can craft and be creative for free and be eco-friendly at the same time. I've lived like this for the past twenty years at least, kinda strikes me now that it's five to twelve being green seems to become 'fashionable'. But that's a good thing, better late than never...

The Seventies are back in many ways. Aren’t we crafters terribly into crocheting granny squares and such? Bell bottoms and block soles have been back and gone again but are not yet totally ridiculous. Or some arty underground fashionable people sti...

I still had to show you a better picture of my dress dummy. Now before I give you the secrets of this lovely scarf let me tell you how I fixed the foot of the dummy. Well very simple: with a cast out old floor fan foot and an aluminium rod, probably ...

From all the books I find on the curbs there's a number I can't list in my on line shop because they don't have an ISBN or EAN number, either because they're too old or published by Time Life or Reader's Digest or such who for some reason don't have ...

Making small purses and pouches from T-shirt yarn I encountered two problems:1. How to machine sew a zipper in at all.2. How to make stoppers on re-used zippers from bags or re-used zippers cut to size.1. Problem with my t-yarn work is I could only d...

  • The Turtle And The Bathtub

Posted on Monday August 31st, 2009 at 09:35 in pets, silly things

A few weeks ago when I came home from grocery errands I found this old plastic hip bath which we dragged home earlier this year parked on our garden path where before I left it was still in a corner of the yard. One of those silly curb finds but the ...

Great blog you have there! You're absolutely right - throwing things away that can be still used or recycled into something else is an act of disrespect. Good on you for trying to turn around this crazy consumer society we have!
Thank you for sharing your blog - I'm inspired to learn crochet now :)

One of my favorite blogs that features "trash finds" and then Astrid shows us how she reuses and upcycles her finds into new treasures. A wonderful resources site for anyone interested in creative and frugal crafting.

Thank you for very warm review of my blog. I like yours, too. Especially this one in English ;-), however with a little help of "electronic translator" blog in Flemish had spoken to me.:-) I was in Amsterdam once and a few time in other cities in Holland. Amsterdam is a kind of place once seen stays in memories forever. :-)Dah!

Love this blog - I like to make things from things I find, too. Those Barbies are awesome and creepy at the same time (that's true for MOST Barbies, I think). I will be back again!

I love reusing things. I have many greeting cards, that were my Mom's. She saved probably everyone she ever got. I'd love to know some of your ideas on crafting with them.

Use and re-use is the name of the game these days. Our throw-away society is slowly learning to conserve. I wish more people would open their eyes to look around them and pick up trash on the streets and discard it properly, or find a way to make it new again.

I think it's wonderful that you do what you do and I've done it myself too - still do. I've found many many useful and even new items on the curb.

I used to make a living scrapping metal and we made quite a bit of money that way. The way metal prices are today I wish I still could do that sort of work.

I'm looking forward to reading more of your blog.

Glad you're here.

Peace, love and understanding.

In the city where we reside we are espousing for REDUCE, REUSE and RECYCLE. I think this is the least we can do to protect mother nature.

I see that you also read some of my favorite authors like Ludlum and Le Carre?

Cheers!
