Midnight Kisa

http://midnightkisa.blogspot.com

At turns really, really funny (no, really) and seriously, deeply thoughtful, this blog muses on self-concept, freaky flabgut (aka weight loss and exercise), dusty chaos (or how to survive household chores), liberty and tolerance, mourning a child, and everything else that crosses through the dark, fertile chocolate of writer Kisa O'Brien's late-night mind.

You may recall my conviction that my current weight is Speedybuns' fault. Whenever I have a baby, I receive a two-year gift subscription to Rubenesque R Us. We've got another six months till expiration this time around, but I thought I'd try giving M...

For years, I've waited for my thoroughly Dutch children to get old enough to lose themselves in my childhood favorites. Our bookshelves have patiently housed these thirty-year-old beauties, some the worse for multiple readings, for ages. Narnia. Litt...

So I'm downstairs playing solitaire, wiggling and jiggling and just hardly able to sit because there's blues wafting out of the speakers. And I ask myself, as I have so many times, how a privileged piece of whitebread like me grew up to love early D...

Contractions were getting fierce this time eighteen years ago; after twelve hours I described as bad menstrual cramps, I'd gradually been reduced to leaning against the bookcase and panting. I was some nine hours away from giving birth to my first, w...

That's the catchy little title of a new book by etymologist Nicoline van der Sijs that details the influence the seventeenth-century founders of New Amsterdam (that's New York City to you and me) exerted on America's future mother tongue. As a transl...

We've wanted a biggish plant for the living room for six months, and were both completely sold on this lovable bit of flora right out of a Dr. Seuss story. I could hug it, I love it so much (but I won't, so as not to crush and maim).Theo Geisel's boo...

Okay. From the heart. I kinda just love your blog. If I'm not to forward in saying, I sorta see you as my cyberflirt. You're highly talented as a writer. You're very supportive as a "friend." And you quoted me...that's a first. I am trying not to fall into cyberlove. I might get my cyberheart broke. But even if that were the case... The heck with it...I just plain dig the blog!! Hutch

She has a way with words, she's got style. Her writings are funny, casual, interesting and witty...all bundled up to give the reader an insight to this endearing character who could balance effectively her multi-role in this multi-world of multi-tasking. Quite a feat!

Every post on this blog should be read, otherwise you don't know what you're missing.

What I like about writers like Kisa is that they can write about anything and make it interesting; that's the mark of a good author and I'm really impressed. I love her style and voice and you will too if you read her blog.

At the time I'm writing this, her blog is less than four months old. Mark my words: if she continues to post on a regular basis, she will have one of the most popular blogs on BlogCatalog.
