This year I puchased a mont banc. It did not last 8 months before the cap needed repair because it would not tighten. Apparently flimsy plastic inside the cap. I sent it back to mont blanc for repair and they wanted $171. to repair the cap. Outrageous. Did not have it repaired.
Take notice. They do not stand behind their products. FYI

I own a Mont Blanc Meisterstuck ballpoint pen. Has anyone noticed that the colour of the black ink has changed in the last two years and is now more grey? It is not as strong a black and weaker in colour than a $2 pen.
I sent back my refills back to the Sydney Mont Blanc store. The refills were damaged in the postal service and Mont Blanc has now said they are unable to help me, in spite of the product being faulty!
Great customer service for a 'premium' product! Be warned...

Your solution for your broken 164 (which is not a "Meisterstuck" collection, since all montblancs are Meisterstuck = german for master piece) can be found on eBay at this url http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&item=270432168324

and yes, there are ways to fix it. you can bring the pen to a Montblanc store and they will repair it for you (replace the broken parts). It could cost you from $25.00 to $75.00 I believe.

I have a Mont Blanc Meisterstuck, I believe 164, pen. Recently I dropped it and the top part of the pen dropped. The pen was a gift from my now past Great Grandmother. This pen has great sentimental value so I was wondering if there was any way to fix it.
