My Strange New Mexico

http://www.mystrangenewmexico.com

"My Strange New Mexico" is a blog featuring extended versions of the popular weekly column of the same name.
Mystrangenewmexico.com explores the state of New Mexico's strangest history, lore, news, and more. From sightings of giant flightless owls to the Roswell Incident, from a secret hideway for pedophile priests to a hollowed-out mountain full of the teachings of L.Ron Hubbard, "My Strange New Mexico" explores it all...and what it finds is pretty interesting.

The town of Red River lies high in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of northeastern New Mexico’s Taos County—8,650 feet above sea level—and yet it is still thousands of feet below the pine- and fir-covered peaks that surround it. Barely 100 mile...

Ah, back to school. That one time a year when, well, actually for most of you it doesn't really mean anything. For the rest of us, me included, all it means is that we're going to have to get back to work soon and stop sitting around playing online p...

I have read some of the articles listed and find them
very amusing. I would like to find an article on the
huge snake found in the Malpais area near Carrizozo by
Juan Baca and Miguel Gonzales. Article appeared in the
Roswell Daily around 1960. It also appeared in a Sports
Magazine as "The worlds greatest liars". Of course, it
turned out to be a hoax...it had all the citizens in the
area really terrified.
