The rat race is just going to have to survive without us. We've had our fill of urban development, inhumane treatment of animals, food quality concerns and just not knowing where our food is coming from. So we're going to the country. 72 acres in fact, with almost 50 in pasture and the rest in hardwoods. Our goal: to run a sustainable farm just as nature would have it.
What do we mean by that? We mean no artificial fertilizers, no growth hormones, no antibiotics and no keeping animals penned up. We're committed to allowing cattle to forage on grass with goats browsing what the cows don't eat. Chickens (pastured broilers and layers) will follow the grazers, spreading fertilizer naturally, foraging for insects and scratching on the ground, just like they are designed to. Our beautiful hardwoods are the perfect environment for the pigs, who are free to use their terrific "plows" to hunt acorns, tubers and all kinds of great treats. Plus they help us by keeping everything clean and free of weeds.
This is the life we want for ourselves, and we know many others are looking for the same thing. What started as a simple desire to pursue a sustainable life for ourselves led to our wanting to share as much as we could with others in the local market. If you are in Georgia or the Carolinas, then plan to come see us and be part of it all.

I've been thinking a lot about good food in the past year. Really, good food. Everyone knows that there isn't much money in farming, but I'm pretty darn comfortable trading that reality with the fact that you can eat with the best of them. ...
Well, Ana's puppies are 17 days old and are doing fine. Better than that actually, they're doing great! They're all fat and round like little rollie pollies. Ana had 11 puppies but one didn't survive, so now she has ten. We've dubbe...
While my parents visited for a little vacation we took an afternoon and went fishing in our pond. Since we stocked the pond with 5" catfish a year and a half ago we've only had one fish fry. It's a combination of wanting to let the fish gr...
