jane
hi! i was so interested in your blog (i was just googling around looking for info on internet sexism...) and read your article about cyberspace "purdah"...i've been thinking in exactly these terms. a friend of mine got tired of getting "you're hot" messages on myspace, so now her picture is of just her eyes....i mean how much more clearly veiled do women have to become for a problem to be identified and addessed. i have a "pretty" picture of me up, and no amount of "you're hots" are gonna shut me down... not because i want guys to think i'm hot, but cause i want women to see what an intelligent, liberated, confident woman looks like. the same way guru's suggest you stare at their pictures as you meditate, because subconsciously we're monkey see monkey do creatures, and subtle head and eye positions, posture, etc, which are so much of health and healing and wholeness, become adopted. the idea is that if i write things that are interesting, opening the reader to new ideas, then they are opening to all of me, all they know of me...so if women see me hiding, they'll learn to hide too...and women are already hiding way too much...not only their bodies but their experiences, ideas, thoughts, angers, griefs, and souls...
anyway, i even signed up for a blog thinking that might allow me access to your blog log...i just can't figure out this technology...aargh.
anyway, just wanted to let you know i admire your clear voice and intelligent perspective. it's hard in this cacaphonus and brain damaged world! i certainly hope i figure out how to read the rest of the stuff you've posted.
thanks for your time and attention
jane.
by the way, i have a myspace i blog on if you wanna check that before i get this new one running. i can't remember the string of numbers (i can't decide on a domain name!)
but my email is lightbridgelocatrix@yahoo.ca, and if you put that in the right box, you should find my blog, and it's all public.
