I was scammed by a group who represented themselves as Halliburton Oilfield Services UK. They talked me into sending them my passport number but when they asked for $3500 cash (for travel insurance)wired to a person in New York I called up the HR office in Aberdeen. The HR people said they had hundreds of calls about this scam.

So the lesson is : independently verify who you are talking to before sending them any personal information and never send anyone any money.

Here is a letter I sent to the Home Office (UK)

UK Border Agency (Home Office)
Thank you for your letter. Here is some information from the internet fraud, including their phone number and the name and address of the person we were supposed to send the money to in the US. You might want to ring them up and have a chat. I called this number and someone with a Scots accent actually answered. I am attaching the fake Home Office Document and Metro Police document (notice they misspelled the word �thumb�). Please pass this on to the authorities.

Very informative blog.... Listen I had a difficult time finding the de li cious button and I never did find it Please do not think I was trying to be funny for this was not the case. Anyway I finally added you to my de li cious network manually ., and you can go check you are added. And as for the Kudos yes you do have one LOOK right under where it says skinny yes your skinny button right underneath you have a button that says MY ZIMBIO, and thats where you click and give Kudos its just like giving a stumble. So you see I have been over at your blog looking for that de li cious button that I could never find. I even tried to laeave a comment there but it said I had to be logged in so I could not even let you know I had been there looking for that de buton.
