My goal is to give readers a better understanding of murder, one of the most important issues facing the Orlando area.

People in Orlando are being murdered in record numbers. Slayings are up in mid-sized cities across the country. Police chiefs and criminal justice experts are trying to figure out why. So far, they have few answers.

Maybe they'll find a few clues here.
