I need some advice from anyone who can assist me. I work to assist children in foster care, reconnect with missing friends and family from their past. I have a youth who has sickle cell and therefore that is the only identification he has for his father. Am I correct in assuming that his father must have the sickle cell trait in order for the son to have it? Well my hope is that there is some sort of registery or something. The mother does not know who the father is and this you would really like to have some connection to his father. He was looking for his brother adn I was able to locate him. Amazingly enough, I discovered that the brother has been living 1 mile from him for the last 10+ years and neither one of them knew it. We will be introducing them to each other in the next few weeks.
If anyone has any suggestions on how I can locate this youth's father, who possibly has the sickle cell trait, that would be fantastic!
Thank You

@Paula, there is no national register. But since the brother was 1 mile away the father may be close too. Check local hospitals for sickle cell clinics...they may be able to give you last names (mom doesn't know who the father is????) Check last names, maybe that will be a start.
