Reflected Oaks

Oaks to Either Side
Oaks lined both sides of the track as I approached Magazine Street. Some branches lay on the ground. The oaks created shadow patterns on the grass and on the track....

Cecile\'s Crepe Myrtle Grove
Cecile's Crepe Myrtle Grove includes a loop with benches and hills with shelters at each end. Moving on from this area and continued on the track. Before lone I arrived at the nextexercise station....
Resuming the Track Loop
Having resumed the track loop, I wandered over to a clump of trees with a sculpture below it. It depicted a father and son carrying fishing poles. From there I approached Cecile's Crepe Myrtle Grove....
Re-Entering Audubon Park
From St. Charles Avenue I reentered Audubon Park. On both sides there were large columns. I passed the fountain again and returned to the track and resumed my walk....
Audubon Park at St. Charles Avenue
Leaving the fountain I went out the park gateway to St. Charles Avenue. The roads that used to lead in and out of the park are now blocked from automobile traffic. I went around the front to capture some of the details of the entrance....
Ogden Entrance Pavilion
Here are some shots of the fountain at the center of the Ogden Entrance Pavilion in the front of Audubon Park. The park faces St. Charles Avenue and Tulane University across the avenue. I walked around the fountain to capture different viewpoints....
The Travelers
Underneath the pine trees stood three statues that make a work by Deborah Masters, called “Travelers.” I took photos of them as a group and individually. From that point I crossed the track to visit the Ogden Entrance Pavilion....
Following the Curve
Again walking the track, I followed the curve toward the front of the park. The Holy Name Cathedral was fully visible at this point. I walked towards a line a pine trees near the lagoon....
Ascending a Hill
Leaving the bridge I saw Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral above the treetops. I ascended another hill that had a shelter. Across the track I could see a larger shelter....
Across the Bridge
So what is on the other side of the bridge? Well, I walked to the other side to briefly view the golf course. A sign had a warning about falling golf balls....
The Bridge
Next I came upon a bridge that is often used by local artists in paintings. From the middle of the bridge, I took a variety of shots around the bridge looking where I had been and where I was going. I also explord the shore and views....
Bird Island
In the distance I could see Bird Island. I walked along the shore to an area where people were feeding the ducks and geese. I took some shots of the birds....
Following a Worn Path
Turning back around from the street, I faced a small triangular space with benches. From there I crossed the track and traveled a worn path in the grass. Across the lagoon I noticed a small group of egrets....
Homes at the Edge of the Park
Soon I returned to the track. I then detoured to the right where a street dead ends at the park. Facing the street there are homes that face the park left and right....
Shelter on a Hill
Moving up a hill I came upon a small shelter with seating facing outward. Across the lagoon was a group of egrets. While up there I again photographed the fountain ....
View from a Bench
Again I left the track to take in the view from a bench under a shady cypress tree. Finally I had a view of the fountain up close. Here are some different views located near the bench....
Back on Track
From the lagoon I returned to the track. I noted an exercise station along the route. A sign provided instructions for an exercise using the equipment....
Along the Bank
Next I followed a gravel path to another spot along the lagoon bank. Now I could see around the curve in the lagoon. A distant fountain of water was visible at this point. By now the ducks were swimming in the lagoon....
Lagoon
The sculpture was near the park lagoon. Green algae covered the surface. I spotted some ducks making their way to the lagoon....
Current
From the memorial I decided to take a closer look at the sculpture “Current” by Swiss artist Beat Kriemler. It was made out of rolled steel and copper tubing....
Memorial
Walking along the track, I noted a memorial with a flagpole. I decided I should take a closer look. I’ve included some more shots of moss-covered oak trees....
Moss-Covered Oaks
This area of the park had a number of beautiful moss-covered oaks. The sun filtered through to the ground. Naturally I had to stop and shoot some photos....
Walking Lane
Counter-clockwise was the direction I decided to go. So, I started walking making sure to stay in the walking lane. I didn’t want to be run into by a biker. Occasionally I meandered off the path if something peaked my interest....
Audubon Park
