Politics After 50

The one good thing about the Bush administration is that it made me angry enough to get off my ass. Even though I'm 50, it's never too late to get pissed off.

This is more than 'pissed off'. No vulgarian writes this material. Thanks for the good humor and the thorough going-over you do on the rightwing bozos. Bush got me up and moving as well. Shockingly bad!

Great blog!!!

Hi! I love your site!

I'm writing to let you know about a FUNDRAISER I'm holding from now through Tues., Sept. 30, to help with Obama's final month of campaigning.

SHOPPING FOR OBAMA

Buy any handmade item (jewelry, purses, note cards) on www.allthingsbarbara.etsy.com, and I will send 40% to the Obama Campaign. You also have the option to designate the Dem Party or Habitat for Humanity if you prefer.

When you place your order you'll see an opportunity to jot me a note letting me know your preference (obama, dems, or habitat).

(Normally I send 10% of my sales to the Sierra Club, but I'm suspending this rule in favor of the current fundraiser.)

Thanks,
Barbara www.allthingsbarbara.etsy.com

Anyone that believes that a "Hockey Mom" is just what we need for the second most important job in our country is delusional. My town has twice the citizens as Wasilla and I would never vote for our town selectman or someone with no national or international experience. Just because Alaska is next to Russia doesn't mean she has foreign policy experience. The state of Alaska has less that the borough of Brooklyn, and as the Mayor of NYC with over 8 million people, Rudy Guliani's campaign ended before he got started. He was rejected by his own party and at least he had executive experience! As Joe Biden said Rudy knows 3 words; a noun, a verb and 9/11. Republicans get real! You have candidates in your party that would be better qualified. The country doesn't need a "Pit Bull with Lipstick". It needs a capable person that has ideas on how to change the culture in this country and throw out partisanship and elect some one who represents all the people in this country (Obama) a 3rd term of the Bush presidency (John McBush)

Mr. Bush has presided over the killing and maiming of over a million Americans in the past seven and a half years.More info go to www.sonnysdeadgeorgians.com . Christian Conservatives were proud that they elected Mr. Bush. One of Mr. Bushes regrets is that he failed to reward these killers of our Citizens. A Republican led Congress elected by Christian Conservatives made it possible to reward the killing and maiming of our Citizens. No other leading cause of death in America is being rewarded like Medical Malpractice. Malpractice is the fourth leading cause of death in America. It will be a sad day when Terrorist hire Lobbyist. This is not politics of fear this is politics of evil. Christians must be convinced a vote for the Republican Party may as well be a vote for the Devil himself. It is sad Barack want speak for these dead Americans, it really makes you wonder who is the lessor of two evils.

Talk about American politics, and I as a Filipino, have some issues with American foreign policy, these being:

* Military aid usually come in the form of old, almost junk military hardware and equipment with strings such as spare parts, repair and maintenance, attached.

* Almost always have a say on how we run our country (supporting or propping up candidates to support American agenda.)

* As trade partners, our country always seem to get the shorter end of the bargain.

Apart from these verifiable observations, I must say I still like Americans as a people. I like how they make fun of themselves especially on TV. :-) It is just that as a global political observer, I am disappointed at how the U.S. dispenses its foreign policies particularly to 3rd world countries like ours.

Activists have been mouthing these very same observations back when I was in the university. That was more than 30 years ago. It seems nothing has changed.

Fact is hundreds of Filipinos line up everyday at the American embassy to 'beg' for a U.S. Visa. Other than that, majority of our youth are so enamored with anything Stateside. (made in America). I guess nothing wrong with that. But how about learning to love our own first.

I can only hope.

Cheers!
