I have an implement which I believe was called a 'bent dart'. I always understood it to be a trenching tool, until a guy who once worked on the railways described such a tool, which was for the removal of the hot ashes from a steam engine. If indeed it is what I am told it is, which is like a spade, with a leaf shaped blade on the end of a bent shaft, with a straight wooden handle, I would be happy to donate it to Pete's railway workshops at Crewe, or any other interested preservation society. I visited Bromsgrove and saw the grave stones of the two railwaymen killed by a boiler explosion in 1840. They are beginning to look tatty again and I beleive they were last restored by one of the railway unions. Have you any idea if anyone is taking responsibility for them at present?

When the NGG16 overhaul is completed and the loco moved to the WHR, who will own it? Will its ownership be retained by the LNWR or will it transfer to the FR Trust/WHRC?

Dear Pete,

This is not spam or an offer from Nigeria! I work on the Underground in London and go across to Poland frequently to drive and fire.

I have some information regarding the high quality railway model building department of the Polish Railway Museum that is closing down. They are looking for possibly someone to take it over. I have no more details at the moment, but have a contact that could intermediate. This may be an opportunity to offer some ready built 7mm models from your kits if you are interested.

I don't know if you will get this email as my address may be blocked so I will try and contact you through a mutual friend (sort of!) who is arranging a cab trip on an EMU for you.

I will appreciate if you are not interested but this may be an ideal opportunity and even if it comes to nothing a visit to Poland and some high speed driving could be offset as expenses since you are not an MP!
