This is the official site for Red Dog Diary, a book and documentary on one dog’s battle with cancer.


On June 30th 2005 our 8 year old Golden Retriever, Raja, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma or bone cancer. Over the next 8 months, we documented the fight for his life. This documentary is a tribute to our courageuos Raja and an effort to help others understand this horrible disease.

Hi, in 2002, i bought one cute golden retriever, but leptospirosis took it away from me in less than 3 months.. it was such as painful experience for me, who had waited for 18 years to finally got a puppy..
1 year later, we decided to buy another puppy, and we named it exactly like the previous one.. Charlie.. and this one has survived for 5 years.. and it's a good therapy for us cause we used to think we're bad owner.. didn't take care of the dog very well, so it got leptospirosis..

I am so sorry for the pain you and Raja went through. Thanks for sharing his story. The trailer made me cry. I've been going through problems with my own dogs. One was recently diagnosed with Cushing's Disease. The other was diagnosed with three different types of cancer. She developed peritonitis after bowel surgery to remove a very large tumor, and she almost died. She is now doing well, and there appears to be no more cancer in her body. I still can't help but worry about her though. I feel your pain. Raja was a beautiful dog, and his memory will live on.

I lost my cat to cancer this past December, 2 days before Christmas. I wish I'd thought to do something like you did. My tribute to my beloved cat is to get some new kitties when I'm ready, so I can love them as much as I did him.

i truly feel for you and raja. my dog has a rare genetic disease and his prognosis is guarded, although he's currently doing really well on the medication. i set up his blog because of his illness as well.

Raja will always be in your heart and a piece of you -- no one can have a soul come into their lives and not be touched in some way. Thanks for sharing the story -- it must have been extremely hard to do but healing as well to share the story.
