Reserve Dog Liberation

This blog is two-fold: (1)to educate Reserves about humane animal treatment, to explain spay & neuter importance, and offer educational resources so that children on Reserves can avoid dog bites and mauling; and, (2) to explain current legislation pending regarding tougher animal cruelty laws in Canada. Laws have not been updated since 1892 - horse and buggy days.

Education, spay and neuter is desperately needed on many Indian Reserves throughout Canada. The current method of 'dog culling' or dog shooting still takes place on many Reserves. This blog addresses alternatives to shooting. There are many organizations who offer free spay and neuter for Reserves (Canadian Animal Assistance Team- CAAT, for example) and also many sources for free animal education that can easily be taught in Reserve schools along with regular curriculum.

Current legislation is pending to make tougher animal cruelty laws; you will be able to find the email addresses of people working to make this happen.
