Rights of Mankind

http://rightsofman1789.blogspot.com/

Individual Rights are based upon the theory of Social Contract; that we exchange those rights which we have in the Natural State for those Civil Rights we enjoy in society. The Rights of Mankind examines those rights enumerated, and how they relate to our modern world.

I think the thoughtful philosophical content in the posts in this blog is fascinating. From quotations by James Madison to Thomas Jefferson and an array of other the blogger has included in the posts we witness the blogger examine the roots of the varying philosophies as they relate to human rights.

The range of coverage includes an exploration of individual rights based on the theory of social contract, how we exchange those rights for those for civil rights, and how they relate to our modern world.

As I read the posts I am reminded the classification of rights depends in part on appreciation and understanding of their purpose and of their consequences.

Natural rights are attributable to individuals without distinction of time or place. Civil rights are those rights conferred or guaranteed by a particular legal system.
