Ski with me to the Last Degree
http://www.thelastdegree.com
Hi, welcome to my Blog! My name is Lisa and I have joined the Bipolar Expedition to the South Pole with some excitement and some trepidation.
“Polar exploration is at once the cleanest and most isolated way of having a bad time which has been devised.” - Apsley Cherry-Garrard. The Worst Journey in the World.
Although never skied in my life; I will ski to the last degree.
“I am hell-bent for the South Pole - God willing and crevasses permitting.”- Edmund Hillary.
About me: I currently work in business development for the science and technology industry. However I now wish I had studied geology over biology to fully appreciate this unique continent and its impact on climate change. People often comment my laughter reverberates off the walls so I wonder how far my laughter will be carried across the Antarctic desert. My only regret not to be included in the North Pole Expedition is to meet Santa Claus and compare Christmas decoration collections.
Through a close friendship, I experienced first-hand the difficulty accessing mental health care for the diagnosis and treat of bipolar disorder. My vision is to raise community awareness of bipolar disorder and to recognise the help and support provided by carers, friends and family can be vitally important to someone dealing with mental health problems. I am inspired that the fundraising behind the expedition will assist in better medication and diagnosis.
“Superhuman effort isn’t worth a damn unless it achieves results.” - Ernest Shackleton.
So please Ski with me to the Last Degree to Raise Awareness for Bipolar Disorder.
