Slugs on the Refrigerator

Slugs on the Refrigerator

http://www.slugsontherefrigerator.com/home

I am Kat, 30 year old mama to one spirited small boy, named Ellis. We live with 2 cats, one goldfish, a couple of slugs and a dada named Kevin in Stirling, Scotland.

Parenthood has been the best thing I have ever done, and the hardest. I guess I thought I would have one of those quiet, sleep through the night types. What I got was SOOOO much better and very unexpected. Ellis is the craziest, most wonderful person I know. From the moment he was born 4 weeks early, he has challenged us to be:

* more understanding of his sensitive nature

* more patient with his very short fuse

* more able to live on less sleep than I ever thought humanly possible

* more willing to try and see and do than my introverted nature thought possible

* more able to dust off the opinions of others who judge this clever, high-need, spirited, busy small person

On my own personal "journey", parenthood has lit a raging fire of creativity and purpose that I never thought possible. I started the blog because I felt so alone parenting a high need baby so far away from family. As time has gone on, I use it as a way to connect to family, friends and like-minded people all over the world. Oh and to keep a record of the journey, of the things we do and make. I also tremendously enjoy making lists and electronic list making is practically nirvana for this virgo!

When I am not blogging, I can be found:

* crafting away, but never finishing anything

* obsessively reading other blogs so I can compare myself to them and get ideas for other projects to start and never finish

* working in the environmental sector 2.5 days a week

* studying to be a doula and an antenatal teacher

Thanks for reading!

Before I begin this post, I need to divulge a bit about myself. Growing up I was THE biggest slob.  Any of my family members reading this will attest that of the 5 of us children, my room was BY FAR the messiest.  When it was time to tidy my room, ...
