Hi Roger, thanks for posting here.

I think its great that you offered run the bingo. It really is a great past time. People go along not only to try to win some money or prizes, but also for the companionship and social aspect of the game, so don't worry too much, I'm sure its going to be great. A

s you already have a bingo machine, how about jazzing the game up a bit with some new bingo cards? You can print off free bingo cards in many styles and themes from sites on the Internet, just do a google search for 'print free bingo cards' you'll get lots of options.

If you are doing the bingo calling, as a player too, I'm sure you'll know that fun is the theme, so when calling the balls, perhaps make it a bit like we do here for UK 90 ball bingo, and give the numbers some 'rhyming slang'. It always creates a good atmosphere. Of course not all of our English rhyme meanings would be understood on your side of the world, but if you select a few, and change them round a bit to something that would mean more to your geographical region, or just use the obvious ones such as '11= legs 11, 12= one dozen etc, simple, but gets people listening more, and in the mood, and it really gets the atmosphere right. You'll find after a while, the crowd call the numbers out load with you! You can find some of the bingo slang used by doing a google.co.uk search for 'bingo slang'.

You could also ask the audience to think of their own 'bingo slang' for numbers, hand them in to you at the end of the night, and you can choose which, if any would be a laugh to use. The chosen ones could earn the players a few extra free bingo cards.

Also, try to keep the games fairly swift, if you linger, you don't get so many games in for the night, this isn't so good if your proceeds are going to charity.

Depending on how your prize/payout structure will be, its often best to keep the largest of the prizes towards the end of the night, that way people are more likely to stay the whole evening, and more goes into the pot too!

Often land bingo games have prizes as well as cash. Maybe you could look around for some reasonably priced gifts that would go down well, or better still, try to get a local company to sponsor the night, and provide some free gifts in exchange for placing some advertising around the hall for them on the bingo nights.

As for the cash prizes, this depends on what type of games you will play, but it is good to have a fixed jackpot, and/ or a snowball prize. The snowball prize is much favoured in UK bingo halls, again if you google 'bingo snowball prize' you'll get a better explanation of how it works, but it does keep people coming back week after week if the 'snowball' hasn't been won, because of the way it increases each week that its not won.

It would be advisable to get someone who is fast and accurate to sell the tickets, cos the more more tickets sold means more cash / prizes!

Some people take bingo very seriously, but the majority are there for the fun of the game, so relax, make it fun, and I'm sure your bingo nights are going to be a great success!

Oh, and make sure you have enough table's and chairs :)

Hi, I live in a small MHP/Campground in NH and we have a rec hall and a bingo machine with the old cards and buttons to play with. The owners got a permit and I volunteered to crun the Bingo games. I chose Friday nightd at 7:30PM and know that I need a person to handle the money and one to handle the floor and a couple in the kitchen and other than my own Bingo playing experience that's all I know. Any help from you such as do and dont's and any links that would help me get this of the ground would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Roger
