  • Glow-in-the-dark Half Hitched Pouch

Posted on Sunday November 15th, 2009 at 18:49

This glow-in-the-dark pouch is made with CoolGlowStuff.com 3/32" glow cord. I used about 16 feet of cord, 1 ft for the cinch cord with cord lock and 15 feet for the pouch using half hitching/needle hitching for the knotwork.I tied the pouch around t...

  • Paracord Lantern Pouch/Can Koozie

Posted on Sunday November 15th, 2009 at 12:07

I made this paracord pouch using cow hitching, to fit my River Rock 3AA LED lantern. The pouch also works well as a can koozie.I used up what I had left of my green paracord, and can only guess that the amount used was somewhere between 30 to 40 fee...

I bought a couple of these black painted bronze snap shackles from MIL-SPEC MONKEY, to use with paracord lanyards. They do cost a bit more than the usual cheaper swivel clips and carabiners I often use, but it's a neat, well built accessory for some p...

  • Twisted/Spiral Paracord Cross

Posted on Monday November 2nd, 2009 at 23:40

The twisted/spiral pattern is made by tying the half knots the same way each time instead of alternating them like you would for the cobra stitch/Solomon bar/Portuguese sinnet.I used about 5 feet of gutted 550 paracord for the vertical section with ...

  • A Gourd Canteen with Paracord Half Hitching...

Posted on Tuesday October 20th, 2009 at 15:50

Gourds come in all kinds of shapes and sizes, and have many uses, such as a canteen to carry water or other tasty beverages.I used a 30 foot hank of green 550 paracord to do some half hitching/needle hitching around the body of the gourd. I actually...

Sir:

I have always done splicing in the marine industry. Age and things like arthritis has caught up to me, and I have some difficulty with heavier ropes... and also I find that I frequently cannot respond to "come on down and splice 8 new lines for my boat" requests.

So I have gotten into the more decorative aspects of knotting... lanyards, bracelets, turks heads, etc., etc. In this regard, I find your blog to be the best I have ever seen, depicting some of the best workmanship I have ever seen. And your creativity is outstanding.

I have seen on e-bay a tri-color survival bracelet using essentially the solomon bar[r] knot. It is made and sold by a member of the United States military. It is truly outstanding, and is made with plastic side release buckles.

However, as much as I have tried, I cannot get the one color down the center, the second color down the body and the third color on the edges. Do you know of any tutorial for this particular tri-color survival bracelet? I need tutorials to learn - I learned the basic survival bracelet from your Instructable tutorial, which is excellent - but I am not able to find such a tutorial on line or in print anywhere.

Can you point me to a tutorial? The cobra stitch isn't what I am looking for.

I wish to make 90 tri-color bracelets, one for each member of my family/extended family - i.e., children, in-law children, grand and great grandchildren, brothers/sisters and nephews and nieces.

I will eagerly await your September 2008 blog entry.

Keep up the excellent work.

I'm in love with your blog. It's badass...I love knots. I just made myself a knotted hemp bracelet not knowing about you or your blog, so it was destiny for me to find this you, lol. I like how you write as well. It is easy to read and doesn't overload me with nonsense that I don't care about ;) Everything is very well placed on your blog, and it uploads fast. I will be returning to read and learn more!

What an interesting topic for a blog. I put it on my reading list.

Do you have any tutorials about how you make that stuff? Is it on the blog? Did I miss it?
