All that America has to do is stop selling Israel arms and our problems will be. Let the Governments in the Middle East resolve their own problems. America has to focus on its own problems. Our government can't police the whole world. We are broke and our army is tired. We need to rest and rebuild our own country. One of the first things we need to do is provide matching funds for all candidates in our elections. This will free us from domination by special interests. This will truly give America a chance to be a great democracy.

I... woah. So many people getting serious.

I'm reading it and I partially understand but then I don't, most likely a loss of ignorance on my side haha. But even then I clearly have a vague knowledge in politics and such. So I'll try to sound smart for the sake of this and giving it a good rating.

Huzzah, bring on the good people that buys books and reads the news.

All of us who zealously supported President Elect Obama can still help him.
Go to Jim Martin for Senate and volunteer to Phone bank if you don't live in Georgia. There is going to be a runoff on December 2nd between Jim Martin and Saxby Chambliss. Saxby Chambliss has used the worst of the standard republican tactics again Jim Martin. One vote may make the difference. I signed up and I can not wait to help make a change in Georgia. I helped the Obama campaign in Indiana and Colorado..So we all know now what we can do to make a difference. The Martin campaign should have the phone banking data base set up later today or tomorrow.

Question: Do the Obamas require their security guards and/or policemen to remain out of THEIR SIGHT, while they are being protected by them? Emails are circulating to this affect.

Rick, I have to ask. At what point does it get old. These Karl Rove Character Attack, Fear Mongering, Seperatist tactics. Isn't it obvious that this nonsense is being used to distract the people from the issues. Have you not noticed that the Obama campaign has not bought up the Keating 6, Palins husband connection to the secessionist group in Alaska, Palin Pastor who beleves in Witches, and the multitude of other nonsense these two are involved with. I mean come on. I get the sense that because the McCain ticket is the only ones who are stooping to these dirt tactics which define Republican elections, that its viewed these issues only exist with Obama and not McCain.
This McCain campaign will go down as one of the worse campaigns in history partly because he is running against one of the best run campaigns. It amazes me that McCain supporters who truly want there candidate to win, push for him to continue this nonsense which is doing nothing but hurting him and losing points in the polls, instead of encouraging him to enagage the issues. This is not 2000 or 2004. That does not win elections anymore.
You have a 72 year old man, whos had 3 heart attacks, and an incompetent Vice Presidential pick. Even if you have any confidence in this man which is questionable, you can't possibly have confidence in Palin.
The McCain/Palin ticket is losing in almost, if not all polls. Common sense dictates a change of strategy. But you and other McCane Republicans say push harder. Your going to push yourself right out of this election. The only thing your suring up is the far right base. Your turning every one else off, and polls prove it.
But keep up the good work. We want to hear about Ayers and Wright and Acorn, because we dont care that theres an Economic Crisis, and a War we cant get out of.

It is sad that so many people can be fooled by a smooth talker. Perhaps that is why there are so many victims of fictitious business scemes. I question the judgement of anyone who votes for Sen. Obama. When someone applies for an important job ie: police officer, teacher, government official they are asked to provide a list of friends as "references". Everyone knows that the applicant will only list someone who he is close with and he will most likely tell him to give a good reference. The reason they ask for references is not to hear what they say about the appicant, but it's more to see the kind of people they associate with. This leads me to Sen. Obama. They kind of people he associates with leads me to question his overall judgement. The fact he no longer associates with them, only because it doesn't benefit him during the election does not erase the fact he is friends with them. If you found out a friend or a co worker associated with a neo nazi group, but recently stopped so he could get a better job. Would you completely forget and forgive the fact that he had the poor judgement to associate himself with them if the first place? Would you trust him to watch your kids or work for you. This is my biggest problem with Sen. Obama. It sickens me that the majority of people can forget his poor judgement in the people he associates with only because he is a sooth talker. Please, think about it...

I don't understand how anyone can continue to fall for the Republican line after the last two elections. I have a sneaking suspicion that the Republicans will make this election as difficult as possible. Obama should win through, but if there ever gets to be a Republican majority in the House and Senate, there will be a repeat of the Whitewater nonsense, where they will hound Obama every moment of his Presidency. If Clinton could be impeached for his piddling offense and Bush II can get away with what he did in his 8 years, there is something seriously wrong with the system.

Sarah Palin attacked Obama by saying he was a terrorist and was part of a terrorist group. Obama began and started hi career fundraising in Ayers home. Obama and Ayers had a very long relationship and also worked together on the Annenberg Challenge. Obama been with Ayers and Ayers IS which is an unrepentant home grown terrorist. i think Palin was wrong for saying Obama was and still is a terrorist. Palin doesnt know what she is doing. She was the Governor for a small towwn in Alaska she doesnt know what she is talking about.

Why is it the goverment will never be honest with us. Tell us that no matter what the decide on this bill. We are damned if we do and damned if we dont. If we pass it, it will just postpone the inevidible. (deppression). And if they dont, they sit back and watch the economy fall. But you know as well as i do they cannot let that happen. The rush to get it done is that we live day to day off of other goverments money. If they happen to say dept due or just stop giving us money, the u.s. will fall. I write this because how surprising it is to everybody. lol. Like nobody told us about it. (Ron Paul-Aaron Russo). What my question is, is that how will my day to day life change (buy a pop or ciggeretts) if this bill is passed. Ethir way we are SCREWED

Obama and the whole camp are being played in a classic con as a mark..including on this bailout plan...we are lucky the democrats of Congress are seeing this and greeting it with some skepticism.I am a former GOP supporter that voted for Bush as well...and mostly GOP for over 30 years who now supports Obama 110% on this run..the American people are being played heavy on this..and most people do not see this coming. The GOP actually had nothing going for it until they learned how to repackage Obama's idea's and sell them in new packaging is all.

Am I alone in thinking that the Democratic Party hierarchy, the Republicans and the US media are jointly conspiring to ensure not only that Barack Obama doesn't become US president, but also that no black person will ever do so? Just consider how in the wake of the blatant lies, virulent racist smears, caustic, negative campaign ads and such like of the Republicans on Obama, every senior democrat, including Joe Biden, never respond as they should but instead go out of their way to heap praise on John McCain. And in Bill Clinton’s case it’s the start of Hilliary’s 2012 presidential bid. Moreover, it's the Republicans who determined what the presidential debate format should be; who ensured that Sarah Palin, in the VP debate, isn't subjected to any real scrutiny regarding her suitability as VP. Excuse: to counter Joe Biden's foreign policy experience and her lack of this. Why then is this woman running, bearing in mind she's also being kept away from the media? After 20 months of Obama on the campaign trail Americans lyingly tell themselves they don't really know him. But they know Palin, who three weeks ago no one outside Alaska had ever heard of and the media still refuses to scrutinize. Yes! Racism is still alive and well in the USA.

SHOPPING FOR OBAMA

Buy any handmade item (jewelry, purses, note cards) on www.allthingsbarbara.etsy.com, and I will send 40% to the Obama Campaign. You also have the option to designate the Dem Party or Habitat for Humanity if you prefer.

When you place your order you'll see an opportunity to jot me a note letting me know your preference (obama, dems, or habitat).

(Normally I send 10% of my sales to the Sierra Club, but I'm suspending this rule in favor of the current fundraiser.)

Anger is useful and we need to get more people riled up; I'm serious about shouting from our windows in every state on September 11th.

The time has come for us to channel that anger and call attention to our dissatisfaction in a BIG way.

Join with me and open your window September 11th, shouting: "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it any more."

Let the air ring with a call to action. And then spend the next month getting people signed to vote for Obama and on election day, drive them to the polls.

Do it at 7 pm CST.

What I don't understand is why Republcans are so excited about McCain VP nomination. How is it that anyone regardless who they are can be nominated for Vice President while being under investigation for abuse of your congressional powers. You can't even become a police officer in this contry durring the interviewing process while being under investigation. I thank they made a big mistake and now are trying to convince us that they didn't.

Barack Obama has never governed a city, never governed a state, never governed an agency, never run a military unit, never run anything, except for an 18 month political campaign. He doesn't even have any action points for a new vision. How does this qualify him to be the next president of the United States?

I would like to ask all potential presidents and running mates to look into the eyes of our highest ranking millitary personel and ask them this:

Do you think I am ready to be president?

My only concern is the May-December social aspect of McCain and Palin. He is almost 30 years her senior. Will the "Axis of Evil" take Palin seriously?

My comment concerns Senator McCains selection of the Govenor of Alaska for President. Her selection is an insult to the intelligence of the American voter. The qualification issue is easy to attack.............Barach Obama was elected by the people!!!! Sarah Palin was chosen by some very desperate politicians who are really out of toucdh with the average American. How dare they insult my intelligence by putting a virtual unknown. I voted for Barach Obama aftera long tough primariy season not because of his succes at a PTA meeting

Timing is EVERYTHING! The "Edwards Affair" is over two years old... BUT, it's become big news just in time for the Democratic VP quest! Another "wait and use it when we want to" strike by the right wing machine. Stop the knee jerk reactions, weigh the true importance of whatever those guys throw at us next, and let's hope they can't eliminate ALL the good choices!

Where Have All of the Other People Gone?

After listening to all the ranting and raving concerning race in America I have to ask myself, “Where have all of the other people gone?” The last time I looked, America was divided into many more groups than black and white.
And with all of the references being made to America being a divided nation and how Obama is going to bring us all together, I feel compelled to remind him, and everyone else, that skin shade is not the only thing that divides us. So why then is it then that it is the only so-called division factor that is being played out in the media and cast in to all of the bigoted arguments.
If we are going to talk about race and gender, let’s be fair and call it what it really is, inequality. And while we are giving it a name, let’s be fair and throw everyone into the mix that are treated unfairly in this great democracy. That is the only way we are going to truly unite this nation and live up to the title of greatest nation on earth.
I do believe that African Americans are not treated fairly, but they are in good company. What about all other minority races? What about women, Homosexuals, children, poor people of all colors, disabled people, he earth and even animals. The list goes on and on. Why then do I not hear equality for all people being preached from the pulpit, used in political platforms or reported in the news? Why do we have to pass laws that prohibit discrimination based on these differences? Why would we not add an entire group of people to the list of those affected by hate crimes?
It’s true, Hilary has probably never been called the “N” word, but I am quite sure that Jeremiah Wright has never been called the “C” word, the “S” word, the “F” word or any other of the other words that shouldn’t be uttered in a civilized nation. Why then doesn’t Pastor Wright stick up for all of the downtrodden when he is God Damning the USA? Is the poor treatment of black people the only sin discussed in his bible? Perhaps he should be called the “S” word (selfish) or the “B” word (bigoted) or the “F” word (fanatic). A selfish, bigoted, fanatic. See how that works? I am quite sure he is the first one to stand in his pulpit and dog Homosexuals based on some warped biblical translation/belief. If I am wrong I apologize…but somehow I doubt it.
Do any of the candidates dare bring the issue of inequality to the forefront of this campaign? Do any of the candidates dare bring up all of the taboo subjects that truly divide this nation and find a fair way to deal with all of them? Do any of the candidates dare to stand up for the separation of church and state and make laws based on the freedoms stated in the constitution of this great country.
To do this you will need to really look at all of the ways this country is divided, not just 1.

If you want a Republican to win, if you want the Iraq war to be a 100-year war, if you want the resources of our country to continue to spill out to fill the coffers of the Bush-Cheney Evil Empire, then nasty bugs keep winning is because they come together around whoever their candidate is. There are enough Democrats in the country to overturn this administration, the Congress and the Senate in one fell swoop. No matter who wins the nomination, we must all gather around the Democratic candidate and show up at the ballot box.
