  • Happy Birthday Heather

I have known this little critter all her life. Today is her birthday. She has a thing about her age so I won’t tell it. (She’s a baby—not even 30 yet) I am proud to be her mom. What a challenge she was to raise. It’s kinda tough when the kid ...

I have always tried to stay away from two subjects on this blog: politics and religion. As we all know both are hot-button issues with most everyone. However there are times I choke on it and have to say something. This is one of those times.I support...

"Nothing can bring you peace but yourself." ~ Ralph Waldo EmersonIt is my belief that where we go in life as adults is not always dependent on where we begin. Does a happy, carefree childhood ensure a successful, well-adjusted adult? Not always. Does...

  • What next for the Girl?

Posted on Thursday September 10th, 2009 at 08:29 in blogging, writing, girl, daughter, anniversary

Weeks ago I had planned on writing a post to publish on the one year anniversary of this blog. Since that date has come and gone (September 8) I guess it is safe to say that isn’t going to happen. For awhile I considered my one year celebration wou...

OK...wow. This is some great writing. I just read "The Color of PTSD." You captured what it feels like to be assaulted by thoughts that seem to come out of nowhere. I WILL be back!

Tricia is of my mother's generation, roughly. And she's lived through a whole bunch of horrendous things in her life.

Many women of her glorious and wise age were brought up to believe in a 'stiff upper lip', not airing one's 'dirty laundry', and above all else... soldiering on.

As such, I think Tricia's bravery is most poignant because here's a woman who, despite all this, despite what it costs her emotionally... she's writing about her life anyway.

Its chilling stuff, and its awe-inspiring.
