Hello all....Some time ago, Glenn and I were having a discussion on the new and unique ways the federal government is trying to create revenue and incarcerate more citizens by making virtually everything a crime. He recomended a book regarding this, ...

I am a supporter and practitioner of BDSM. While I understand that most of what occurred was consensual, I was saddened to learn of the very little respect that Mr. Marcus has for his slaves. D/s relationship is about control and submission. It, however, must be tempered always by respect for both parties. It seemed that, based on the testimony, Mr. Marcus forgot that point. Masters must be aware of their slaves' abilities and push them to new heights without destroying that person. It sounds like Mr. Marcus was more interested in mindless sex/torture slaves than exploring the indescribable joys of a D/s relationship.
What concerns me the most is his treatment of her when Jodi finally wanted to leave. That last encounter between them was mortifying.
I do agree that his conviction was based more on society's fears of BDSM than the law. As an attorney, I was glad that the Supreme Court took his case. I do not think the law supports his conviction. Maybe, however, his own incarceration will teach him about how to appropriately conduct a BDSM relationship.
