This fly (family: Tachinidae) came to the mercury vapour light last night. I'd estimate it to be around 10mm in length. It appears to be one of the Tachinid flies, also known as Bristly flies. This family are mostly parasitoids and parasites of ...

Aside from moths, there are many other visitors drawn in by a light trap including flies, wasps, bees, and birds. In the course of a week there will always be something new and unusual that I have not seen before. This morning it was the magnificentl...

You have a truly beautiful blog. The photos are so clear. I lived in OZ for many years and recognized several birds which I once knew well. I have been to Tassie and it is truly unique and lovely. For anyone into nature, beauty, photography this site has it. It's also interesting and well laid out. Great job!
