http://troprockconnection.com
Music reviews of TropRock music new and old, and bootleg concert recordings for folks on Island Time. TropRock is a genre of music that deals with Tropical Fixations. If it has a tropical feel and tells stories about far off islands, sand and sun, tiki bars, ocean breezes, boat drinks or anything else that involves hanging out with your toes in the sand, you could call it TropRock. It roots come from multiple genres including Rock, Country, Jazz, Reggae, Cajun, Pop and more. The most famous of TropRock artists of course is Jimmy Buffett. His music and stories have influenced “Parrotheads” of all ages and from all over the world. The TropRock sound has been around for a while but has recently exploded on the independent music scene thanks to the popularity of artists such as Jimmy Buffett, Kenny Chesney, and many others. There are thousands of singer-songwriters all over the world who are not content to just play “Margaritaville” and “Come Monday” all night long. These independent artists have struck out on their own to add their own spin to the TropRock thing. Now their music and their stories keep our feet in the sand, a cold drink in our hand, and the ocean and sun in our hearts.

Tall Paul - Fast Beneath My Feet - 2002
Standing over 6′ 8″, one would never expect the gentle, friendly, happy demeanour that Tall Paul possesses. I can’t recall ever seeing Paul without a smile on his face, and even more so when he’s performing. How Tall Paul fal...
Todd Snider - Canal Street Tavern, Dayton, OH - 1-29-2006
When Todd Snider performs solo, he is (in my opinion) one of the last great Singer/Songwriters/Storytellers. While the music is great, the stories are just as entertaining. This show does not disappoint. Todd tells stories about how, when and ...
Young Rebel Goombas - Young Rebel Goombas - 2008
Every time I think I finally have the genre nailed down, a band comes along that totally rewrites the book. This happened when I first heard “Young Rebel Goombas”. I think the best way to describe the Goombas sound is as a jambalaya of ro...
